    Abstract: Symmetrical or asymmetrical bis-phosphino, bis-arsino or phosphino-arsino compounds are produced by reacting a dihalo-organic compound with two benzyl-diorganyl-phosphine or -arsine compounds which may or may not be identical and then hydrogenating the product. A process for the production of compounds of formula (V) involves reaction of a compound of formula (I) with a dihalo compound (II) and a compound of formula (III) followed by hydrogenation.
