Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a water-soluble copolymer of at least one kind of water-soluble N-vinyl lactam and at least one kind of hydrophobic comonomer by the radical polymerization of the monomers in an organic solvent. SOLUTION: A vinyl lactam copolymer is produced by the radical polymerization of at least one kind of water-soluble N-vinyl lactam and at least one kind of hydrophobic comonomer in an organic solvent in the presence of an initiator under refluxing condition. In the above method, a part of the solvent is distilled off after converting 90-99 wt.% of the used vinyl lactam and the polymerization is continued. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for producing a copolymer composed of at least one kind of hydrophilic N-vinyl lactam and at least one kind of hydrophobic comonomer and soluble in water to form a transparent solution by the radical copolymerization of the monomers in an organic solvent. SOLUTION: A vinyl lactam copolymer is produced by the radical polymerization of at least one kind of water-soluble N-vinyl lactam and at least one kind of hydrophobic comonomer in an organic solvent in the presence of an initiator. The polymerization is carried out under a gauge pressure to prevent the evaporation of the components. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT

Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of copolymers containing: a) 60 to 99 % by weight of at least one vinyl lactam or N-vinyl amine, selected from the group consisting of N-vinyl pyrrolidone, N-vinyl piperidone, N-vinyl caprolactam or N-vinyl formamide, and; b) 1 to 40 % by weight of at least one monomer of general formula (I).
Abstract:
Disclosed are stick glues containing a copolymer or polymer mixture (hereafter referred to as polymer ) as an adhesive. Said stick glues are characterized by the fact that 5 to 80 percent by weight of the polymer consist of at least one monomer of formula I, wherein R and R independently represent an H atom or a C1 to C4 alkyl group, or R and R jointly represent a C2 to C6 alkylene group such that a 4-membered to 8-membered ring is formed, and R to R independently represent an H atom or a C1 to C4 alkyl group.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of copolymers obtained by radically polymerising a mixture of i) 30-80 % by weight N-vinyllactam, ii) 10-50 % by weight vinylacetate, and iii) 10-50 % by weight polyether, wherein the sum of the components i), ii) and iii) is equal to 100 % by weight as solubilisers for poorly water-soluble substances.
Abstract:
The invention relates to aqueous solutions of homopolymers and copolymers of N-vinylpyrrolidones, said solutions being physically stabilised by a hydrogen peroxide content of between 100 and 5000 ppm.
Abstract:
The invention is a process for preparing tetraalkyl-substituted biphenol which comprises reacting a 2,4- or 2,6-dialkyl substituted phenol in which the alkyl groups contain 1 to 6 carbon atoms with a peroxidase enzyme in the presence of a peroxide in an aqueous medium to yield a tetraalkyl-substituted biphenol by oxidative coupling of the 2,4- or 2,6-dialkyl substituted phenol, or yielding a tetra-alkyl substituted quinone, and reducing the quinone to obtain a tetraalkyl-substituted biphenol. The invention further includes a process for preparing a tetraaryl-substituted biphenol in which the aryl groups contain 6 to 10 carbon atoms which comprises racting a 2,4 or 2,6 diarylphenol with a peroxidase enzyme to yield a tetraaryl-substituted biphenol. A process for reducing a tetraalkyl-substituted quinone to corresponding tetraalkyl-substituted biphenol which comprises reducing the quinone with a phenol in an aqueous medium at a temperature of about 60° to 120° C. is also included.
