Abstract: Azole compounds of the formula (I) in which A denotes CH or N, n = 1, 2 or 3, k = 1 or 2, Ar denotes a (subst.) aromatic radical or (subst.) thienyl, W denotes the atoms necessary to complete a benzene, naphthalene or thiophene ring system, X denotes a radical C(R )2 and in the case in which W denotes the atoms necessary to complete a benzene or naphthalene ring system, also denotes oxygen or sulphur, R and R denote H, halogen, (subst.) alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, cyano or nitro, and in the case in which W simultaneously denotes the atoms necessary to complete a benzene ring, R also denotes phenyl, phenoxy, phenylthio, phenylsulfinyl, phenylsulphonyl, benzyl, benzyloxy or hydroxyl, where the phenyl groups can be substituted or R and R together, if they are o-orientated, denote an alkylene chain; R denotes H or alkyl or two radicals R together, if they are bonded to the same C-atom, denote an alkylene chain, and their stereoisomers and salts have advantageous fungicidal, antimycotic and anticonvulsive effects.

Abstract: Azole derivatives of the formula I where A equals CH or N and R /R equals substituted or unsubstituted phenyl, biphenylyl, phenoxyphenyl, benzylphenyl, benzyloxyphenyl, naphthyl, thienyl, furyl or pyridyl and their salts and esters have outstanding antimycotic and fungicidal activity in all stereoisomeric forms. They are obtained by reaction of a compound II with a sulphur ylide of the formula III to give the compound IV which is reacted with the corresponding compound V to give I. Compound VI can also be used as a starting material and is reacted with 2 equivalents of IIIa compound IV being formed; or compound VI is first reacted with an equivalent of IIIa to give II, and II is then reacted, without working up, with the sulphur ylide IIIb (CH3)2SCH2 to give IV and this is reacted with V to give I.
