Abstract:
PURPOSE: To realize a symbol reader which can be connected to an external system by properly interchangeably attaching plural housing parts to a first housing part where a light source, optical means, and sensor means are arranged. CONSTITUTION: One of elements in a head 10 is an active laser light source consisting of, for example, a semiconductor laser diode 42. A laser beam passes an aperture stop 56 and goes backward along an optical axis 102 in the head 10 and is made incident on a practically flat scanning mirror 66 and is reflected by this mirror. The mirror 66 energized by a trigger 32 is repeatedly moved back and forth or oscillatorily and linearly sweeps so that the laser beam traverses all of bars consisting of a symbol. A feedback part of the reflected laser beam is condensed by a concave condenser mirror 76 to form a convergent beam in a conical condensing optical path. The mirror 76 reflects the conical convergent light into the head 10 along an optical path 116 and passes a laser transmission element 78 along a second optical path and is made incident on a sensor means like a photo sensor 80, thus generating an electric analog signal.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To read a two-dimensional bar code by scanning a read symbol by a laser beam to prepare the digital display of reflected light and transferring it to a memory array to access for confirming the orientation of the symbol. CONSTITUTION: A hand-held scanner 20 generates a multi-scanning line pattern 144 from a laser beam generated from a laser source 18 by means of a motor 128 and a mirror 124 and raster-scans on a two-dimensional bar code symbol to read. An optional detector 140 detects a part of the light of variable intensity reflected from the symbol and an electric signal showing the detected optical intensity is transferred to the memory array 20 as a digital value. CPU 35 accesses to the memory array 20, judges whether the reflected light of variable intensity shows or not the set pattern of the bar code and confirms the orientation of the symbol with respect to the scanning pattern based on the judgment.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To automatically inactivate a monitoring tag after a bar code symbol is read by providing a function for detecting display provided with the part of different light reflectance such as the bar code symbol on a label and the function for inactivating the monitoring tag connected to the label. CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with a scanning device for scanning the label including the bar code symbol, a sensor 54 provided with a view field for detecting at least a part of the light of various intensity reflected from the label and generating electric signals for indicating the intensity of the detected light, a processor 55 for processing the electric signals and judging whether or not the reflected light of the various intensity indicates the presence of the bar code symbol 103 and further the function for generating the usable signal at the time of detecting the bar code symbol, sending inactivation signals to an article, changing the physical characteristics of the tag 101 and inactivating the tag. Thus, the monitoring tag connected to the label read by the scanning device is inactivated.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for monitoring a mobile computing arrangement.SOLUTION: An arrangement may include a sensor and a processor. The sensor detects first data of an event including a directional orientation and a motion of the arrangement. The processor compares the first data to second data to determine if at least one of predetermined procedures is to be executed or not. The second data may include a predetermined threshold range of changes in the directional orientation and the motion. If the predetermined procedure is to be executed, the processor selects the predetermined procedure which corresponds to the event as a function of the first data. Subsequently, the predetermined procedure is executed.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce or mitigate interference and performance degradation between a wireless local area network (WLAN) device and a wireless personal area network (WPAN) device. SOLUTION: The architecture defines a paging system that employs a modified paging sequence. A frequency selection component 104 defines a frequency protocol, a packet scheduling component 106 defines an alternating paging method, and a paging component 108 employs the defined frequency protocol and the alternating paging method to generates a modified paging scheme. Additionally, the paging system can employ any non-collaborative frequency hopping protocol, collaborative paging method or channel mask to generate the modified paging sequence. When a connection is created, AWMA can be turned on and after the connection is removed, AWMA can be turned off. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide systems and methods for managing power for state machines. SOLUTION: While maintaining a CPU and/or a network radio in an "ON" state, power to other portions of a state machine is lowered and/or stopped to reduce power consumption. A wireless mobile terminal is enabled to maintain network connectivity and to wake to service events (such as a link status change, a network keep alive, proxy-ARP packets, re-authentication packets, etc). Such power management can be executed in the background and return the wireless mobile terminal to a "run" state via invocation from wake sources such as a power control, a key, a trigger, a touch screen, a wake-up timer, a wake-on-LAN, etc. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a firmly attached keypad assembly for preventing the intrusion of external environment contaminants, and enabling the replacement of components. SOLUTION: A composition comprises a built-in type keypad module having an upper cover and a lower cover, and keypad components are encapsulated and/or held between the upper cover and the lower cover in an integral forming process executed by surrounding a stack. The stack stuffed between the upper cover and the lower cover can include an electric wire member, an electroluminescent panel, and a silicon film having a plurality of keys thereon. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for simulating the state of a flickering laser beam which is especially useful in a hand-held bar code reader of a linear sensor-based and a two-dimensional sensor in an electrooptical imaging system which includes an optical code reader and a digital camera and uses a semiconductor sensor in order to record a target image. SOLUTION: The operating environment of a moving laser beam in a flying spot electrooptical reader is simulated in a semiconductor sensor-based imaging reader by turning a visible line produced by a light emitting diode on and off before capturing the two-dimensional image of a target. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device, a method, and a system capable of using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) in a distance of approximately 12 inches or more to a hand mobile computer while retaining human engineering accuracy. SOLUTION: This mobile computer and reader can be constituted as standard module fittings for a computer (for example, a thread) usable only when intending to inquire to the radio frequency identification (RFID). The thread can support an antenna loop incorporating the RFID reader electronic circuit and a dedicated battery separated from an actual mobile computer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
