Abstract: A battery management apparatus and method for use in an electrical vehicle has a plurality of individual batteries 34 provided within a battery pack 10. The battery pack is coupled to power vehicle traction 12 and a plurality of individually connectable vehicle appliances 18-26. A monitor keeps track of charge state by means of a battery monitor 44 on each battery relaying instant current to a processor 27. In a first embodiment, a charge allocation profile for the whole battery pack 10 is used where different appliances 18-26 have different amounts of charge capacity allocated to them and are disconnected when discharge exceeds their allocation and are reconnected during charging when their charge is again found. In a second embodiment, individual batteries 34 and appliances 18-26 are connected within a network configuration allowing anything to be connected to anything else. Battery 10 segments can be created, each having one or more allocated individual batteries and each segment connected to selectable services 12 18-26 within the electric vehicle. Segmentation patterns can be changed. A segment charge allocation profile can be used within each segment in much the same way that the charge allocation profile can be used and changed for the first embodiment. Progressive charging and discharging of the battery is the end result.

Abstract: An device and method for a pre-sampling processing is disclosed. The pre- sampling device includes a single amplifier having a virtual ground node, and a feed back circuit connected from an output of the amplifier to the virtual ground node. The feed back circuit includes a plurality of switches connected to the virtual ground node. The switches control a plurality of programmable gain settings. The feed back circuit also includes an adjustable current source that is adjusted according to an estimated echo signal. A current of the adjustable current source is summed at the virtual ground node. The feed back circuit also includes a low pass filter that is tuned to suppress received signal frequencies above a fraction of a sampling frequency of a sampler connected to the pre-sampling device.

Abstract: A high-speed sampling system (Fig. 6) and an analog to digital converter (620, 622, 624) are disclosed. One embodiment of a method of sampling (610, 620, 622, 624) a signal includes receiving an analog signal and generating first samples at a rate of Fs, and generating second sub-samples (M bit @Fs/n) from the first samples at a rate of Fs/N and having a relative phase of approximately (360/N)*(i-1) degrees, where i varies from 1 to N. In a first embodiment, at most two second sub- samplers are tracking the output of the first sampler at any point in time. In a second embodiment, only one of the N second sub-samplers are tracking the output of the first sampler at any point in time. A third embodiment further includes generating third samples from the second samples at a rate of Fs/N, and having a relative phase of approximately ((360/N)*(i-1)+180) degrees. A method of interleaved analog to digital converting includes corresponding time interleaved ADCs receiving the third samples.

Abstract: Systems and methods for performing surveillance and sanitization operations using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) (102, 200) is disclosed. The UAV (102, 200) includes a light source (212) to emit ultra-violet (UV) rays and at least one first sensor (208) to detect objects in an area. The UAV (102, 200) also includes a processor (202) to obtain information about an operational area of the UAV (102, 200). The operational area is indicative of an area over which the UAV (102, 200) hovers. The processor (202) may determine absence of an object, such as a person or an animal, in the operational area. Based on the determination, the light source (212) may be activated to sanitize the operational area.

Abstract: Described are embodiments of methods and systems for using a removable data storage device to efficiently transfer medical data from a medical device to a remote server. In some embodiments, the medical device tracks transfer statuses of medical data stored on a local storage. A transfer status assigned to a data portion of the medical data may inform the medical device of whether that data portion needs to be transferred, has been transferred, or has been successfully ingested at the remote server. The medical device can use information stored on the removable data storage device in conjunction with the tracked transfer statuses to determine which portions of the stored medical data should be transferred to a physically coupled removable data storage device. After completing a data transfer process, the medical device can update transfer statuses of portions of medical data that was transferred to the removable data storage device.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are novel embodiments of progressive mobility aid devices. Such progressive mobility aid devices are designed to progress through a variety of configurations to accommodate the use of the progressive mobility aid device in a safe and secure manner as the user of the progressive mobility aid device traverses a variety of surfaces and terrain such as traversing irregular surfaces including sidewalks and stone-based surfaces; loose surfaces and terrain including gravel and sand; soft surfaces including wet ground and carpeted surfaces; and variable gradient surfaces including stairs and inclining or declining surfaces and terrain. The progressive mobility aid devices accommodate such uses with an articulating design that provides for front legs of the progressive mobility aid device to be pivotably adjusted with respect to the rear legs of the progressive mobility aid device, and with wheel assemblies that are selectively deployable and retractable.
