    Abstract: Un método y sistema para sincronización de enlace ascendente (UL) de una transmisión de enlace ascendente desde una pluralidad de unidades inalámbricas de transmisión/recepción (WTRUs) a un Nodo B en un sistema de acceso múltiple por división de código (CDMA). Un Nodo B recibe una transmisión que incluye una secuencia de sincronización UL (SYNC_UL) de una WTRU. Un muestreador muestrea la transmisión a una velocidad de muestreo mayor que un chip rate. Las muestras son sometidas a down- sampling y se detecta la secuencia SYNC_UL a una velocidad menor. Se determina una primera ubicación de trayectoria significativa de la secuencia SYNC_UL detectada y, en base a la primera ubicación de trayectoria significativa, se determina una ubicación de trayectoria significativa final. La ubicación de trayectoria significativa final es cuantificada y se transmite UpPCHPOS a la WTRU para ajustar un timing de transmisión UL.

    Abstract: The present invention is related to a method and apparatus for implementing space frequency block coding (SFBC) in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless communication system. The present invention is applicable to both a closed loop mode and an open loop mode. In the closed loop mode, power loading and eigen-beamforming are performed based on channel state information (CSI). A channel coded data stream is multiplexed into two or more data streams. Power loading is performed based on the CSI on each of the multiplexed data streams. SFBC encoding is performed on the data streams for each of the paired subcarriers. Then, eigen-beamforming is performed based on the CSI to distribute eigenbeams to multiple transmit antennas. The power loading may be performed on two or more SFBC encoding blocks or on each eigenmodes. Additionally, the power loading may be performed across subcarriers or subcarrier groups for weak eigenmodes.
