Abstract: Abstract The invention relates to a method for condition monitoring of a rope (1) of an elevator comprising an elevator car (2) and a rope wheel arrangement (M), which rope (1) is connected to the elevator car (2) and passes around at least one rope wheel (3) comprised in the rope wheel arrangement (M). The method comprises obtaining travel data of the elevator car (2), the travel data including information describing occurrence(s) of car start(s) and/or bypass(es); and determining based on the travel data a total number (N) of car visits at a predetermined landing (Lo) in the path of the elevator car (2), which total number (N) is the sum of the number of starts of the elevator car (2) away from said predetermined landing (Lo) so as to travel to any other landing (L-1,L+1,L+2.. L-+n) irrespective of the traveling direction, and the number of times the elevator car has bypassed said predetermined landing (Lo) without stopping irrespective of the traveling direction; and comparing the total number (N) or a multifold of the total number (N) with a first predetermined limit value, wherein said multifold equals to the total number (N) multiplied with factor n wherein n equals the number of said at least one rope wheel; and performing one or more predetermined action if said total number (N) or the multifold of the total number (N) meets the first predetermined limit value, said one or more action including one or more of indicating a weakened rope condition, indicating a need for maintenance or replacement of elevator rope(s) (1), calculating an estimated moment of maintenance or replacement of elevator rope(s) (1), sending a specific or general warning signal, sending a fault signal, sending a signal to a service center the signal indicating weakened rope condition or a need for maintenance or a need for replacement of elevator rope(s) (1). Abstract: A genetic allocation method in an elevator group for allocating a landing call to one of several elevator cars in the elevator group, the cars moving and stopping within the area of several different floors. The elevator travel routes are encoded into alternative chromosomes. Using genetic methods, alternative chromosomes are developed and the best chromosome is selected. The elevator group is controlled in accordance with the best chromosome. The floors served by the elevator group are divided into a first group and a second group. On the floors of the first group, landing calls are given as passenger-specific destination calls. On the floors of the second group, landing calls are given as floor-specific up/down calls. When the destination calls and up/down calls are encoded into the same chromosome, the best chromosome represents an allocation decision, in which the gene values indicate which elevator car is to serve each passenger and each up/down call.

Abstract: The method of the present invention can be used to monitor and predict the condition of an automatic door of an elevator or more generally an automatic door in a building. In the method, the acceleration or velocity of the door is measured and a dynamic model of the door is created. Using the model, estimated values of acceleration or velocity of the door can be calculated as a function of unknown parameters. One of the unknown parameters is the frictional force acting on the door during movement. By utilizing the estimated acceleration or velocity as well as measured acceleration or velocity values, an error function is obtained, whose minimum value is found using an optimizer. The unknown parameters corresponding to the minimum value indicate the current condition of the door. On the basis of earlier measurement results, it is additionally possible to predict a point of time when a failure is likely to occur in the operation of the door. In addition to unknown force parameters, it is possible, using a genetic algorithm, to determine the operational condition of a door closing device as well.

Abstract: The method of the invention can be used to improve the performance of an elevator system. In the method, the acceleration and/or velocity of at least one door in the elevator system is measured and a dynamic model of the door is created. Using the model, an estimation of acceleration and velocity can be calculated as a function of unknown parameters. From the estimated acceleration or velocity and the measured acceleration or velocity an error function is obtained, and a search is performed in an optimizer to find its minimum value. The unknown parameters corresponding to the minimum value indicate the value of the kinetic parameters of the door at the instant being considered. By utilizing the calculated values of the kinetic parameters, the functions of the doors in the elevator system are optimized separately for each door. Using a genetic algorithm, it is possible to determine, in addition to the unknown kinetic parameters, the operational state of the door closing device as well.
