Abstract: The sterilization method disclosed includes the steps of - providing a sterilization chamber; - placing the article into the sterilization chamber; - sealing the sterilization chamber; - equalizing the temperature of the article and the sterilization atmosphere while the chamber is sealed; - applying a vacuum of a preselected vacuum pressure to the sterilization chamber; - supplying water vapour to the sterilization chamber under vacuum; - supplying ozone-containing gas to the sterilization chamber; - maintaining the sterilization chamber sealed for a preselected treatment period; and - releasing the vacuum in the sterilization chamber; whereby a vacuum pressure is used which lowers the boiling temperature of water in the sterilization chamber below the temperature in the sterilization chamber. The temperature equalization step is carried out while the chamber is sealed to prevent localized condensation of water during the subsequent step of supplying water vapour into the chamber.

Abstract: The present invention is related to an ozone generator (30) with advantages of high generating efficiency, small size, and good capabilities of heat dissipation and oxidization prevention. The ozone generator comprises a cooling plate (32), a high-voltage plate (34) disposed opposite to the cooling plate, and a channel structure (36) arranged between the cooling plate and the high-voltage plate. Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus (1) for the treatment of air comprising a low power corona discharge ozone generator (5,6) inside a chamber (9) having an inlet (2) and an outlet (7), and at least one air flow impeller (3) for inducing a flow of air through the chamber (9). The ozone generator (5,6) is formed and arranged for generating a restricted concentration of ozone, within an inactivating zone (10) contained within the chamber (9), through which the air flow is passed. The restricted concentration is sufficient to inactivate airborne pollutant material entrained in the air flow, yet decays sufficiently outside the inactivating zone so that the concentration of ozone in the cleaned air expelled from the apparatus (1) is at a physiologically acceptable level without the use of an ozone decomposition catalyzer.

Abstract: An electro-kinetic electro-static air conditioner (100) includes a self-contained ion generator that provides electro-kinetically moved air with ions and safe amounts of ozone. The ion generator includes a high voltage pulse generator whose output pulses are coupled between first and second electrode arrays (230 and 240). Preferably the first array (230) comprises one or more wire electrodes (232) spaced staggeringly apart from a second array (240) comprising hollow 'U'-shaped electrodes (242). Preferably a ratio between effective area of an electrode in the second array (240) compared to effective area of an electrode in the first array (230) exceeds about 15:1 and preferably about 20:1. An electric field produced by the high voltage pulses between the arrays produces an electrostatic flow of ionized air containing safe amounts of ozone. A bias electrode, electrically coupled to the second array electrodes (242), affects net polarity of ions generated. The outflow of ionized air and ozone is thus conditioned. Output airflow may be sampled for ozone and/or ion content, and/or the local environment may be sampled for parameters such as temperature and humidity. Such sampling could then be fedback to the invention and used to regulate desired output airflow characteristics.

Fresh water is typically loaded into the unit, and the unit is cycled until the water is pure enough to drink. A battery is used to produce ozone and to cycle the water through a reaction vessel and can optionally be charged with a small solar panel The unit can also be powered directly from a vehicle.

Abstract: An ozone generator includes a housing having an internal cavity and a plurality of electrode pairs located in the internal cavity. The electrode pairs each contain two electrodes arranged at a distance of a predetermined gap length, and a discharge space is formed between the two electrodes, whereby ozone is produced when a source gas flows at least between the two electrodes and a discharge is generated between the two electrodes.
