Abstract: Abstract A method and apparatus for indicating a temporary block flow (TBF) to which a piggybacked acknowledgement/non-acknowledgement (PAN) field is addressed are disclosed. A sequence may be generated from a temporary flow identity (TFI) to which the PAN field is addressed and masked with a PAN check sequence (PCS). A radio block including a PAN field and a masked PCS is transmitted. The PCS may be masked with one of TFIs which is selected in accordance with a rule pre-agreed. A secondary identifier may indicate a TBF to which the PAN field is addressed. A special value may be used to represent all TBFs assigned and a secondary identifier may indicate a TBF to which the PAN field is addressed. Abstract: A wireless communication system including at least one IEEE 802 multi-stack wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) (110) and a plurality of technologically diversified access networks, such as IEEE 802.X networks and Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) networks, that are concurrently deployed. Both the multi-stack WTRU (110) and the technologically diversified networks include a media independent handover (MIH) function. The WTRU (110) is configured to read MIH information transmitted from one of the IEEE 802.X networks, trigger 3GPP authentication and authorization procedures based on the MIH information, obtain a local Internet Protocol (IP) address, establish a tunnel to a packet data gateway (PDG) in a 3GPP core network, construct a care of address (CoA) and register the CoA with a home agent (142) of the WTRU (110), whereby data destined for the WTRU (110) is routed via the home agent (142) through a new tunnel established between the home agent (142) and a foreign agent (136) based on the CoA.

Abstract: 5 An improved method of network management, particularly in the context of standards IEEE802.11 and IEEE802.11k, through two new MAC measurements, with attendant advantages. The two new measurements include WTRU uplink traffic loading measurement, and an AP service loading measurement and is generally applicable at least to layers 1 and 2 as applied to at least 802.11k in the 10 context of OFDM and CDMA 2000 systems, but is applicable to other scenarios as well. A method for determining and advertising congestion is also provided for a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) system. The present invention also introduces a method for managing congestion when congestion is detected. This aspect for the present invention applies primarily to wireless systems that use the 15 Carrier Sense Multiple Access/ Collision advantageously implemented in selectively configured WTRUs of various forms.

Abstract: A method and wireless communication system for providing channel assignment information used to support an uplink (UL) channel and a downlink 5 (DL) channel. The system includes at least one Node-B and at least one wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The WTRU communicates with the Node-B via a common control channel, the UL channel and the DL channel. The WTRU receives a message from the Node-B via the common control channel. The message includes an indication of whether the message is intended for assigning 10 radio resources to the UL channel or the DL channel. The WTRU determines whether the message is intended for the WTRU and, if so, the WTRU determines whether the message is for assigning radio resources to the UL channel or the DL channel. The WTRU takes an appropriate action based on whether the message is for assigning radio resources to the UL channel or the DL channel.
