    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and simply produce a compound useful as a raw material for nylon-6 or nylon-12 suitable as an industrial resin without forming ammonium sulfate or using any substance having high dangerousness. SOLUTION: A cycloalkanone (a 5-15C cyclic ketone such as cyclopentanone) is reacted with hydrazine (anhydrous hydrazine, etc.) and a nitrous acid ester (methyl nitrite, etc.) in the presence of an organic acid (formic acid or a halogen-substituted lower fatty acid such as trichloroacetic acid), preferably at 10-100 deg.C to afford a lactam (ε-caprolactam, laurolactam, etc.) which is the objective compound. Otherwise, hydrazone of the cycloalkanone is previously produced and reacted with the nitrous acid ester in the presence of the organic acid to provide the lactam. The molar amounts of the respective reagents are preferably 0.4-1.5 times hydrazine based on the cycloalkanone, 2-100 times organic acid based on the hydrazine and 0.9-2.0 times nitrous acid ester based on the hydrazine or hydrazone of the cycloalkanone. The cycloalkanone is preferably used in an amount of 2-25wt.% based on the total weight of the liquid.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To easily and efficiently obtain the subject derivative useful as a synthetic intermediate for β-amino acid derivatives or antibiotics having penicillin-simulated structure, by reaction between an isocyanate and a vinyl ether compound. CONSTITUTION: This β-lactam derivative of the formula is obtained by reacting (A) an isocyanate of formula, R NCO (R is a hydrocarbon) (e.g. methyl isocyanate, cyclopentyl isocyanate, phenyl isocyanate) with (B) a vinyl ether compound of formula, CH2 =CH-O-R (R is a hydrocarbon) (pref. methyl vinyl ether, ethyl vinyl ether, cyclopentyl vinyl ether etc.) under a pressure of pref. >=2000atm (more pref. 2000-12000atm) at 20-130 deg.C.
