    Abstract: A method for producing a metal powder wherein an ion of the metal to be precipitated is reduced by the action of a reducing agent in a liquid reaction system to precipitate the metal powder, which comprises reducing the ion of the metal under a condition wherein the exchange current density of an oxidation-reduction reaction between the ion of the metal and the reducing agent, which is determined by the hybrid electric potential theory, is 100 muA/cm2 or less, to precipitate the metal. The method allows the production of a metal powder having a reduced particle diameter.
