    Abstract: A process for preparing a stable, aqueous dispersion or a stable water-dispersible dry powder of xanthophylls selected from the group consisting of astaxanthin, lutein and zeaxanthin, bya) dissolving one or more of the abovementioned xanthophylls in a water-miscible organic solvent or a mixture of water and a water-miscible organic solvent at temperatures above 30° C.,b) mixing this solution with an aqueous solution of a protective colloid, the solvent component being transferred into the aqueous phase, and the hydrophobic phase of the xanthophyll resulting as nanodisperse phasec) and, where appropriate, converting the dispersion which has formed into a water-dispersible dry powder by removing the solvent and the water and drying, where appropriate in the presence of a coating material,wherein casein or a caseinate is used as protective colloid in step b).

    Abstract: Preparation of a stable aqueous dispersion, or a stable water-dispersible dry powder, of xanthophylls, which comprisesa) preparing a molecularly dispersed solution of at least one xanthophyll, with or without an emulsifier and/or an edible oil, in a water-miscible organic solvent, or a mixture of water and a water-miscible organic solvent, at above 30° C.,b) mixing this solution with an aqueous solution of a mixture of protective colloids,b1) in which the mixture comprises at least one low-molecular-weight protective colloid component and at least one high-molecular-weight protective colloid component, whose mean molecular weights differ by at least 10,000,b2) the solvent component being transferred to the aqueous phase and the hydrophobic phase of the xanthophyll being formed as a nanodispersed phasec) and if appropriate, to prepare a water-dispersible dry powder, freeing the resulting dispersion from the solvent and the water and drying it in the presence or absence of a coating material.

    Abstract: Procedimiento para la obtención de una dispersión acuosaestable o de un polvo seco hidrodispensable estable de xantofilas, cuyo procedimiento está caracterizado porque (a) se prepara una solución molecular dispersa de al menos una xantofila eventualmente con un emulsionante y/o un aceite comestible en un disolvente orgánico miscible con agua, o una mezcla a partir de agua y un disolvente orgánico miscible con agua, a temperatura de por encima de los 30°C,b) se mezcla esta solución con una mezcla acuosa de coloides protectores,b1 ) conteniendo la mezcla por lo menos un componente de coloide protector de bajo peso molecular y por lo menos un componente de coloide protector de alto peso molecular, ascendiendo la diferencia entre los pesos moleculares medios, como mínimo, a 10000,b2 ) transformándose el componente de disolvente en la fase acuosa y formándose la fase hidrófoba de xantofila como base nanodispersa c) y se libra, en caso dado, la dispersión formada para la obtención de un polvo seco dispersable en agua del disolvente y del agua, y se seca la misma, en caso dado, en presencia de un material de recubrimiento.
