Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shift the absorption peak of a carotenoid in ultraviolet/visible range spectrum to deep side and obtain a new color by using an organic sulfur compound. SOLUTION: An organic sulfur compound (preferably lipoic acid and/or a lipoic acid derivative) is used as an agent for shifting the ultraviolet/visible range absorption of a carotenoid to deep side. The absorption peak of a carotenoid in ultraviolet/visible range spectrum is shifted to deep side by 1-100 nm by the use of the organic sulfur compound. The organic sulfur compound can be used in the form of a complex with a carotenoid, and a carotenoid preparation is produced by using the complex in combination with other assistant or additive. The contents of the carotenoid and the organic sulfur compound in the carotenoid preparation are preferably 0.01-25 wt.% and 0.1-40 wt.%, respectively. The preparation can be used as an additive for food, or the like.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a finely powdered carotenoid preparation controllable to have intended coloration effects and having a high bioavailability. SOLUTION: The production process comprises forming a molecular dispersion of carotenoid at an elevated temperature in a water-miscible volatile organic solvent optionally together with an emulsifier and/or an edible oil and adding a protective colloid to the solution. In this process, the hydrophilic solvent component is transferred to the water phase to form a hydrophobic phase of carotenoid as a nano-disperse phase and the obtained hydrosol is heat-treated at 40-90 deg.C. Then the solvent and water are removed from the heat-treated hydrosol to convert it into a water-dispersible dry powder.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a solid preparation of a water-soluble, a slightly water-soluble or a water-insoluble active compound. SOLUTION: This method for producing the solid preparation which is made of at least one kind of the water-soluble, the slightly water-soluble, and the water-insoluble active compound and suitably used for fields of food and animal feeding stuff or medicaments and cosmetics comprises (a) a process where at least one kind among the above active compounds is dissolved or dispersed in an aqueous molecular dispersion or an aqueous colloidal dispersion of a proteinaceous protective colloid, (b) another process where the proteinaceous protective colloid is aggregated and deposited from the dispersion together with the active compound, and (c) the other process where the aggregated solid is separated from water and an arbitrary solvent which is additionally used, and then the solid is converted into a dry powder.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new curcumin-formulated agent free from defects of conventional curcumin solution or turmeric oil-containing resin comprising the considerably rapid fading in air resulting in the severe restriction of the use of curcumin in food industry and pharmaceutical preparation owing to the insufficient stability and the water insolubility. SOLUTION: The objective agent contains curcumin showing an X-ray analysis diagram having the most intense reflection line falling within the range of 2θ=13 to 15 deg..
Abstract:
The invention relates to pulverulent phytosterol formulations, methods for the production and use thereof. The aim of said invention is to deliver the phytosterol formulations incorporatable in aqueous and oily preparations. For this purpose, said pulverulent phytosterol formulations contain at least one type of phytosterol whose mean particle size ranges from 0.01 and 100 mu m, preferably from 0.01 to 10 mu m, better from 0.01 and 2 mu m and ideally from 0.05 and 1 mu m. Said phytosterol formulations are characterised, in particular in that at least one type of phytosterol is used in a semi-amorphous form. In a preferred embodiment, said phytosterol formulations are characterised in that said phytosterol is embedded in a protective colloid matrix.
