Abstract: The invention relates to a locking system for locking and unlocking a cabin door of a lift cabin (11) of a lift system (10), in which lift system (10) the lift cabin (11) can travel along a lift track having stopping points and associated stopping point zones. The locking system comprises a lock mechanism (28), which can be brought into a locking position and into an unlocking position, wherein the cabin door in the locking position of the locking mechanism (28) is immobilised in the closed position of the cabin door and can be opened in the unlocking position of the locking mechanism (28), an actuator (16) by which the locking mechanism (28) can be brought either into locking position of the locking mechanism or into the unlocking position of the locking mechanism, a control device (22) which causes the actuator (16) to bring the locking mechanism (28) into the unlocking position of the locking mechanism when at least the condition that the lift cabin (11) is located in the region of a stopping point zone is met. The locking system is characterised in that the lift system (10) comprises a position detecting device (27), which continuously detects a position of the lift cabin (11) relative to the lift track and communicates the position to the control unit (22), and the control unit (22) continuously detects whether the condition that the lift cabin (11) is located in the region of a stopping point zone is met, by comparing the position of the lift cabin (11) communicated by the position detecting device (27) to stored position limit values of the stopping point zones.
