Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for a configurable mode for a response to random access message. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving an indication from a base station (BS) that the BS operates according to a first mode in which the BS unicasts a RACH response during a two-step RACH procedure or a second mode in which the BS multicasts the RACH response. The RACH response includes a PDCCH and PDSCH. The UE sends a RACH message to the BS comprising a preamble and payload. The UE monitors and decodes the PDCCH of the RACH response based on the indicated first mode or second mode. The UE decodes the PDSCH of the RACH response and sends feedback to the BS based on the indicated first mode or second mode.

Abstract: In a legacy gNB (e.g., pre-Rel. 17 gNB), RC UEs with only 1 or 2 receive antennas may have a geographic coverage area for control data and traffic data that is smaller than their geographic coverage area for SSB with respect to certain legacy gNBs. By contrast, at least some new gNBs (e.g., Rel. 17+ gNBs) have the capability to provide uniform geographic coverage for RC UEs with respect to SSB, control data and traffic data. In an aspect of the disclosure, a particular class of UEs (such as RC UEs) is steered towards particular cells (e.g., Rel. 17+ gNBs) via one or more biased class-specific cell selection parameters included in system information from the cells.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive configuration information identifying configurations associated with respective uplink carriers for a random access channel (RACH) message, wherein a configuration associated with a first uplink carrier, of the respective uplink carriers, is different than a configuration associated with a second uplink carrier of the respective uplink carriers. The UE may select a set of uplink carriers, of the respective uplink carriers, on which to transmit the RACH message based at least in part on the configuration information. The UE may transmit the RACH message on the selected set of uplink carriers in accordance with the configuration information. Numerous other aspects are provided.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration that indicates a first control resource set (CORESET) configured for a first category of UEs and a second CORESET configured for a second category of UEs with which the UE is associated, wherein the first CORESET has a first frequency domain resource allocation, and wherein the second CORESET overlaps in time with the first CORESET and has a second frequency domain resource allocation that is a subset of the first frequency domain resource allocation. The UE may monitor for a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) candidate based at least in part on a determination that the PDCCH candidate is fully contained within the second frequency domain resource allocation. Abstract: This disclosure describes methods, devices, and systems for techniques related to random access procedures, such as a two-step random access procedure. Generally, the described techniques support physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) occasion (PO) aggregation in random access procedures, including aggregation configurations and communication schemes that support enhanced data transmissions, such as small data transmissions, in random access procedures. In some examples, the described techniques may include aggregating POs in a time domain, or a frequency domain, or both. A device, such as a user equipment (UE) may aggregate, in one or more of a time domain or a frequency domain, multiple POs of a set of POs, and transmit, to a device such as a base station, a random access payload of a random access message on a PUSCH using time and frequency resources of the aggregated multiple POs.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for a user equipment (UE) to adjust a random access message that is transmitted to a base station in an asynchronous uplink transmission. The UE may use a constrained mapping of time and frequency resources for the random access message or transmit all portions of the message in a continuous transmission. The UE may also adjust the timing of the portions of the message. The base station may use a portion of the message, such as a preamble, to perform channel estimation for another portion of the message, such as a payload, to improve decoding of the transmitted message. Additionally, the UE may configure a waveform of the message to improve the continuous transmission of the message, for example by reducing interference between portions of the message.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems may support flexible waveform configuration for autonomous uplink transmissions. A base station may transmit broadcast signaling (e.g., a system information block (SIB)) indicating waveform configuration information for an autonomous uplink transmission by a user equipment (UE). In some cases, the broadcast signaling may include a waveform configuration field (WCF) that may indicate whether flexible waveforms for autonomous uplink are supported, may configure a waveform type, may indicate waveform configuration mapping rules, etc. As such, a UE may identify whether flexible waveform configuration for autonomous uplink is supported, and may determine waveform types for autonomous uplink transmissions based on waveform type configuration information from a base station (e.g., which may include an indication of whether flexible waveform configuration is supported, an indication of waveform type/scenario mapping rules, etc.), one or more LUTs, identified autonomous uplink scenarios, autonomous uplink transmission parameters, or some combination thereof.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may use easily detectable transmission parameters to infer difficult-to- detect parameters for communications with a base station. For example, the base station may provide the UE with multiple sets of transmission parameters, and the UE 115 may choose from among these sets of transmission parameters for the communications. In some cases, the UE may be configured with a reference set of transmission parameters, receive one or more transmission parameters that are different relative to the reference set of transmission parameters, and then determine to use the different transmission parameters for the communications. Additionally or alternatively, the multiple sets of transmission parameters may be specified for a certain uplink message (e.g., random access channel messages), where the UE selects the transmission parameter set based on one or more characteristics of the uplink message.
