Abstract: A rotary fuel injection pump having a rotary charge pump and a stroke control mechanism (84, 210, 270, 280 or 290) for variably limiting the outward stroke of a pair of diametrically opposed reciprocable pumping plungers (38) of the charge pump for controlling the fuel charge measure delivered by the charge pump. Several embodiments of a stroke control mechanism (84, 210, 270, 280 or 290) are disclosed which include a generally U-shaped abutment yoke (94) mounted within a diametral slot (99) in the pump rotor (18) for engagement by inclined ramps (39) on the outer ends of the charge pump plungers (38) and axially adjustable within the rotor slot for variably limiting the outward stroke of the plungers (38).

Abstract: A portable shower head includes a diverter movable between first and second positions. In the first position, water from the shower inlet is discharged through a spray forming member. Abstract: A liquid fuel injection pump for supplying precisely measured charges of fuel under high prssure, has a housing in which a fuel distributing rotor is journaled. The rotor carries a high pressure charge pump for pressurizing the charges of fuel and a pair of through bores in the housing mount a pair of shuttles which alternate in pumping measured charges of fuel into the charge pump chamber. Fuel regulated by a metering valve is delivered to a chamber at one end of each shuttle and the fuel charge so produced is then pumped into the charge pump chamber by applying hydraulic pressure to the other end of the shuttle. A ball check valve carried by the rotor isolates the shuttles from the charge pump. An axially adjustable stop at each end of each through bore limits the movement of each shuttle in each direction and the stops for each shuttle are accessible through the end of its through bore for changing the limit of movement of the shuttle in each direction independently of the other stop for the shuttle. A passage supplies fuel to a closer plunger which hydraulically seats the ball check valve and the fuel trapped between the plunger and its stop cushions the impact therebetween as the charge pump pressurizes the pressure, in the rotor.

Abstract: An inlet metering fuel injection pump for pressurizing metered charge of fuel to high pressure is provided with an independent helical gear driven drive shaft having its drive connection with the distributor rotor disposed concentrically with the governor flyweights. The shaft is mounted by a ball bearing received within a deep bearing recess of the housing in which the bearing cannot bottom. The bearing is axially fixed to the shaft and is axially slidable in the bearing recess. A wave washer engages the outer race to bias the shaft toward the distributor rotor to prevent axial oscillations of the shaft and the resultant pumping and pressure pulsations in the fuel which fills the pump housing as torsional loading on the shaft suddenly changes. This eliminates any instability of operation due to to-and-fro flow of fuel past the governor weights and pulsations of pressure acting on the plungers of the charge pump.

Abstract: A valve deactivator assembly according to aspects of the present invention includes an inner body member that is slidably disposed in a longitudinal bore defined by an outer body member. Two diametrically opposed pistons are positioned in a transverse bore also defined by the outer body member. A pair of substantially identical latch members are outwardly biased against an inner end of the pistons by a compressed spring. The latch members are generally semi-cylindrical in shape and include flat truncated semi-circular upper and lower surfaces. The pistons apply radially inward force in response to engine oil pressure to adjacent latch member to move the latch member against the bias of the compressed spring to an unlatched position. The periphery of each latch member lower surface provides arcuate shoulder portions that engage angularly separated portions of a latching surface inside the outer body member.

Abstract: A piezoelectric sensor adapted for incorporation into a high pressure fuel line employs a pair of piezoelectric transducer elements which are mounted in diametrically opposed bores of a main body.
