    Abstract: (a) mixing defatted ricebran in a solvent of 40-60 % ethanol in water for 1- 12 hours under stirring at 50-80 deg.C to obtain a first extracted soln., the wt. ratio of solvent: ricebran being 4-5:1; (b) sepg. a residue from the first extracted soln. by centrifugation; (c) contacting the residue with water for 2-3 hours at 50-80 deg.C to obtain a second extracted soln., the wt. ratio of water: residue being 4-5:1; (d) mixing the first and second extracted solns.; (e) concentrating the mixed soln. to a water content of 40-50 %. The antioxidant is safe and low in cost; it has higher activity and is obtd. in higher yields than the antioxidant extracted from ricebran by the process of Japanese Patent laying-open No. 241985.
