    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:Bismaleimides of formula I (R, R' are H, halogen, 1-4C alkyl; n, n' are integer of 1-4). EXAMPLE:2-Methyl-2,4-bis(4'-N-maleimidephenyl)pentane. USE:An insulating material, heat-resistant adhesive, vulcanizing aid: they have high heat resistance and high compatibility to resins and show retarded curing properties. Further, they melt at low temperatures. PREPARATION:A dehydrating agent such as a carboxylic anhydride is made to act on a bismaleamideacid of formula II in an organic solvent such as acetone or methyl ethyl ketone in the presence of a catalyst such as sodium acetate or nickel acetate and of a tertiary amine to form the compound of formula I. The compound of formula II is obtained by addition of maleic anhydride to a diamine of formula III.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A resin composition, excellent in heat resistance and electrical characteristics and useful for a copper-clad laminate, a paint, a cast material, which comprises a maleimide compound containing monomaleimide, and a 1,2-butadiene polymer. CONSTITUTION:A thermosetting resin composition, comprising a maleimide compound of formula I (wherein R is a polyvalent organic group having a valence of n; X1 and X2 are H, a halogen or an alkyl; n is an integer of 1 or more), containing 1-50wt% of monomaleimide, and a 1,2-butadiene polymer. The maleimide compound is N,N'-ethylenebismaleimide or N,N'-p-phenylenebismaleimide. The monomaleimide is a compound of formula II (wherein R is a monovalent organic group), concretely N-methylmaleimide, N-phenylmaleimide, etc. The presence of the monomaleimide compound improves compatibility between the maleimide compound and the 1,2-butadiene polymer, to obtain a homogeneous composition.

    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:A maleimido shown by the formula I (R and R' are H, halogen, or 1-4C alkyl; n and n' are 1-4). EXAMPLE:2-( 4'-Hydroxyphenyl )-2-( 4''-maleimido-phenyl ) propane shown by the formula II. USE:Electrical insulating materials, heat-resistant adhesives, vulcanization accelerators coating compound, and especially raw materials for a resin required to have special functions utilizing OH groups and double bonds. Having an extremely large solubility in a low-boiling solvent, e.g., acetone, methylethyl ketone, etc. and good compatibility with a resin. PROCESS:A maleamic acid shown by the formula III is reacted with a dehydrating agent, e.g., phosphorus pentoxide, polyphosphoric acid, a carboxylic acid anhydride to give a compound shown by the formula I by the dehydration through cyclization. The reaction is carried out in an organic solvent or in the presence of a catalyst and a tertiary a mine. After the reaction is over, good granules of the aimed compd. are precipitated by using a solvent, e.g., water.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a polyimide capable of giving thermosetting resins having improved heat resistance, moldability and processability, by reacting an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride with a polyamine while controlling the reaction temperature. CONSTITUTION:One or two or more types of unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydrides of the formula (Z is organic group having a C-C double bond) are directly or dissolved in an organic solvent, and placed in a reaction vessel. One or two or more types of polyamines having two or more amino groups in the molecule on the average are directly or in an organic solvent, and added to the anhydrides at such a rate as not to increase the temperature of the reaction mixture above 50 deg.C, and subjected to ring closure in the presence of a dehydrating agent, a dehydration catalyst, and a tertiary amine through dehydration at 50-120 deg.C for 10min-10hr.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare the title composition of improved fluidity and solubiling to solvents, as well as capable of affording molded products of high impact resistance, by incorporating, in place of a bis-maleimide, a polymaliemide in a mixture of a polyisocyanate and an epoxy compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition comprising (1) a polymaleimide having two or more maleimide groups in one molecule, its polymer, and/or a prepolymer from this polymaleimide and an amine, (said polymaleimide being preferably of formula I (n'>o), also having a branched structure of formula II), (2) a polyisocyanate having two or more cyanoester groups in one molecule, its polymer, and/ or a prepolymer from this polyisocyanate and an amine, and (3) an epoxy compound. EFFECT:Having good heat stability, also with bonding and adhering potential, and excellent electrical properties.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To produce an integral-skin polyurethane foam which cures in a short time without causing swelling even at the free-blow density by pouring a reaction mixture contg. an arom. polyisocyanate, a high-molecular isocyanate- reactive compd., and a specific blowing agent into a mold. CONSTITUTION: A reaction mixture is prepd. by mixing an arom. polyisocyanate, a high-molecular isocyanate-reactive compd. having an OH value of 24-55mgKOH /g, an ethylene oxide content of 10-25wt.%, and a ratio of primary terminal OH groups to all terminal OH groups of 70-95mol%, a blowing agent comprising phosphoric acid and/or its compd., and if necessary a cross-linker, a catalyst, another blowing agent, a foam stabilizer, and other additives. The mixture is poured into a mold and allowed to foam, giving an integral-skin polyurethane foam having a density of 0.3-0.8g/cm .
