    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition suitable for sliding parts, etc., having extremely improved wear resistance without damaging excellent heat resistance, fluidity and mechanical characteristics by blending liquid crystal polyester (amide) with specific graphite. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100 pts.wt. liquid crystal polyester forming an anisotropic melt phase, preferably a polyester shown by formula I, formula II, formula III or formula IV (R1 is one or more groups obtained from groups shown by formula V, formula VI, etc.; R2 is one or more groups selected from groups shown by formula VII, formula VIII, etc.; X is H or Cl and group II and group III are in amounts equimolar with group shown by formula IV) and/or liquid polyester amide is blended with (B) 1-200 pts.wt., preferably 3-100 pts.wt. graphite having >=90%, preferably >=94% fixed carbon and 1-20mum, preferably 2-10mum average particle diameter and preferably further based on 100 pts.wt. total amounts of the components A and B of (C) 0.5-2 pts.wt. powdery silicone and (D) >=200 pts.wt. filler to give a liquid crystal composition.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a liq. crystal compsn. with excellent heat resistance, moldability and flow characteristics, small mechanical anisotropy and deformation, and good electric characteristics by compounding a liq. crystal polyester forming an anisotropic molten phase with a mica contg. a mica powder with a specified particle size. CONSTITUTION:A liq. crystal polyester resin compsn. prepd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. liq. crystal polyester forming an anisotropic molten phase with 1-200 pts.wt. mica wherein a mica powder with a particle size of 100 mesh or smaller according to the ASTM standard sieve is 90wt.% or more, and 0-150 pts.wt. fibrous reinforcing agent. The liq. crystal polyester means a polyester forming an anisotropic molten phase, such as p-hydroxybenzoic acid/polyethylene terephthalate liq. crystal polyester or p-hydroxybenzoic acid/6-hydroxy-2- naphthoic acid liq. crystal polyester.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve heat resistance, moldability, mechanical properties, and, particularly, impact resistance by compounding a liq. crystalline polyester resin comprising specific structural units with talc and a glass fiber. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. melt-moldable liq. crystalline polyester resin consisting of structural units represented by formulas I, II, III, and IV is compounded with 10-150 pts.wt. talc having a mean particle diameter of 2.5-3.5mum and 10-150 pts.wt. glass fiber having a mean fiber diameter of 3-9mum. In formulas III and IV, represents at least one group selected from the group consisting of a group of formula V, etc., ; and Y, at least one group selected from the group consisting of a group of formula VI, etc. The sum of molar amts. of units II and III is substantially the same as the molar amt. of unit IV.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare the subject composition having excellent flame retardance, heat-resistance, mechanical properties, etc., by preparing a highly flame retardant-containing composition from a liquid-crystalline polyester and the polymeric flame-retardant and subsequently melt-blending the composition with the liquid-crystalline polyester. CONSTITUTION:A liquid-crystalline polyester containing ethylenedioxy units as an essential component and having a melting viscosity of 10-15000 poises is melt-blended with a polymeric flame-retardant (e.g. brominated polycarbonate or brominated epoxy compound) in a weight ratio of 9/1-4/6, and the prepared composition containing the polymeric flame-retardant in a high concentration is melt-blended with the liquid crystalline polyester in a weight ratio of (0.2-30)/100 to provide the objective composition.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve heat resistance, the toughness of a tip and the adhesiveness to fluoroplastic coating compds. by molding liquid crystal polyester which consists of specified 4 pieces of constitutional units and is specified in the molar ratios of the respective constitutional units. CONSTITUTION:The paper separating pawl for copying machines is obtd. by molding the liquid crystal polyester which consists of the constitutional units respectively expressed by formulas I, II, III, and IV and in which the constitutional unit (I+II) is 75 to 95mol% of (I+II+III), the constitutional unit (III) is 25 to 5mol% of (I+II+III) and the molar ratio of the constitutional units (I)/(II) is 75/25 to 95/5. In the formula II, R1 denotes 1 kinds of the groups selected from formula V; R2 denotes >=1 kinds group selected from the formula VI. In the formula VI, X denotes a hydrogen atom or chlorine atom. The heat resistance, the toughness of the tip and the adhesiveness to fluoroplastic coating compds. are improved in this way.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a composition which has excellent heat resistance, flowability, stiffness, mechanical properties and peeling resistance by using 2 or more kinds of liquid crystal polymers having heat-distortion temperature in a specific range. CONSTITUTION:The subject composition is composed of 2 or more kinds of liquid crystal polymers having the structural unit of formula I or the structural units of formula I + formula II + formula III (X is formula IV and/or formula V; Y is formula IV through formula VIII, CH2CH2; when H is 0 and Y is formu la IV, X may be further NH; the carbonyls in the formula III are located in the para- and/or meta-positions to each other), and a heat distortion temperature of 190 to 280 deg.C, especially 190 to 220 deg.C wherein at least one polymer has struc tural units of formula IX + formula X + formula XI + formula XII (X' is formula IV, formula VII, formula VIII, CH2CH2 when R' is 0 and X' is formula IV, X' may be further NH; the carbonyls in the structural unit of formula XII are in the ortho- and/or meta-position to each other wherein more than 50mole% are in the p-position. The resultant composition has preferably 200 to 280 deg.C liquid crystallization starting temperature and less than 3,000 poise melting viscosity.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer having low melt viscosity and excellent fluidity and enabling precision forming by melt-molding, by copolymerizing a hydroquinone having a specific substituent. The molar ratio of the component A/B is 20/80-90/10, C/D is 100/0-70/30, E/(A+B) is 2/98-80/20 and (A+B)/(C+D) is 1.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a polyester fiber composed of a specific polyester copolymer, having sufficiently high mechanical properties and heat-resistance and having optical anisotropy and rigidity. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber is composed of a copolymerized polyester having a logarithmic viscosity of 1.4-10.0dl/g (measured at 60 deg.C in pentafluorophenol at a concentration of 0.1g/dl) and composed of the structural units of formula I-III [R1 is group selected from 2,6-naphthylene, p-phenylene, 4,4'-biphenylene, group of formula IV, formula V and formula VI; R2 and R3 are groups selected from p-phenylene, 4,4'-biphenylene, 2,6-naphthylene and group of formula VII (X is H or Cl)]. The content of the structural units of [formula I + formula II] is 77-95mol% and that of the structural unit of formula III is 23-5mol% based on the whole composition. The molar ratio of the structural unit of formula I to the structural unit of formula II is 75/25-95/5.
