The present invention relates to a metallic cord (10) for the reinforcement of elastomers. The cord is a 4+3 construction wherein the diameter of each filament (12,14,16,18,20,22,24) ranges from .35 mm to .50 mm. These cords are particularly useful to reinforce belts (60) in a pneumatic tire (50).

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a hybrid core rope capable of reducing maintenance work or not requiring maintenance. The hybrid core rope (1) comprises: a resin solid core (2) having multiple spiral grooves (2a); multiple fiber chains (3) having fitful thickness for filling the spiral groove, and coiled in spiral shape on the outer periphery of the resin solid core along the spiral grooves; and multiple strands (4) coiled in spiral shape on the outer periphery of the solid core. The fiber chains and strands are coiled respectively, not having a parallel angle for each other.

The invention relates to a three-layer metal cord of L+M+N construction, which can be used to reinforce a tyre carcass reinforcement. The inventive cable comprises: an inner layer C1 with L wires having a diameter d1, L varying between 1 and 4; an intermediate layer C2 which surrounds the inner layer, with M wires having a diameter d 2, which are helically wound together with a pitch p2, M varying between 3 and 12; and an outer layer C3, which surrounds the intermediate layer C2, with N wires having a diameter d3, which are helically wound together with a pitch p3, N varying between 8 and 20. The cord is characterised in that a sheath, which is made from a crosslinkable or crosslinked rubber composition based on at least one diene elastomer, covers at least the aforementioned intermediate layer C2. The invention also relates to the plastic and/or rubber semifinished products or articles reinforced with one such multilayer cord, such as tyres that are intended for industrial vehicles and, more specifically, heavy vehicle tyres and the carcass bracing plies thereof.
