Abstract:
Particulate sorbent compositions comprising a mixture of zinc oxide, silica, alumina and a substantially reduced valence nickel are provided for the desulfurization of a feedstream of cracked-gasoline or diesel fuels in a desulfurization zone by a process which comprises the contacting of such feedstreams in a desulfurization zone followed by separation of the resulting low sulfur-containing stream and sulfurized-sorbent and thereafter regenerating and activating the separated sorbent before recycle of same to the desulfurization zone.
Abstract:
Benzofluorenyl-containing metallocenes are disclosed along with methods for making the metallocenes. Also disclosed are methods for using the metallocenes as polymerization catalysts. In addition, polymers resulting from such polymerizations are disclosed.
Abstract:
A composition is provided which comprises a polymer comprising repeat units derived from an unsaturated amide, an N-vinyl lactam, and optionally, a vinyl acid. Also provided is a water-based fluid composition which can be used as drilling fluid wherein the composition comprises calcium chloride and the polymer. Further provided is a process for using a water-based fluid wherein the process comprises contacting a subterranean formation with the water-based fluid composition disclosed above to effect the control of fluid loss of the water-based fluid composition.
Abstract:
A computer implemented method and apparatus is disclosed for automatically picking faults (24) in a recorded 3D seismic trace data volume (20). The method employs test planes, which are mathematically inserted into the same data volume (20) to approximate dip and azimuth of a potential fault plane surface (33). A large number of data points, which are selected points on the seismic traces, are defined within the seismic volume (20), such that each test plane positioned in the seismic volume (20) contains data points corresponding to at least a significant portion of traces. The method then determines a factor for each data point which is representative of the probability that the data point resides on a fault plane (33). This probability is based on planar discontinuity and average amplitude difference between corresponding traces in adjacent parallel test planes, and the method selects locations, in an x, y grid, of a strip of locations having high probability of residing on a fault surface (94). The strip of the selected locations is smoothed to a line and used to construct fault lineaments displays in seismic sections or time slices. The fault lineaments are stored in a computer data file (24) and conventional, stratigraphically enhanced, or other seismic data enhanced for seismic attributes is merged with the fault lineament files to create consolidated displays to aid interpretation of the data volume (33).

Catalyst systems used are selected from the group consisting of inorganic oxide supported titanium-containing catalyst systems, inorganic oxide supported organo-zirconium catalyst systems and inorganic oxide supported organo-hafnium catalyst systems.
Abstract:
Double bound metallocenes, i.e. metallocenes having a cyclopentadienyl-containing radical that is bound to a transition metal both by a pi bond and by a sigma carbon bond of a substituent of that same cyclopentadienyl-containing radical can be prepared by reducing metallocenes having a cyclopentadienyl-containing radical having at least one an unsaturated substituent. Also a process for producing polymers comprising contacting at least one olefinic monomer under suitable polymerization conditions with such double bound metallocenes.
Abstract:
A process for producing an organic trisulfide compound comprises contacting, in the presence of a catalyst, a mercaptan with an organic polysulfide compound to produce a product mixture and optionally contacting the product mixture with an acid wherein the catalyst comprises a base and optionally a surfactant and the organic polysulfide contains about 4 or more sulfur atoms per molecule.
