Abstract:
A method for the simultaneous determination of cholesterol and triglyceride substrates with a single reagent system. The reagent system is reacted with the specimen such that each of the substrates reacts with their respective reactant simultaneously. The change in absorbance or fluorescence of the resulting reaction mixture is measured at a plurality of wavelengths which are characteristic for each of the substrates to be determined. The amount of cholesterol and triglyceride substrates can be determined by either an endpoint or reaction rate measurement. The reagent system comprises an enzyme having cholesterol esterase activity, a chromogenic oxygen acceptor, microperoxidase, and cholesterol oxidase for determination of cholesterol; and lipase, ATP, PEP, glycerol kinase, pyruvate kinase, LDH and NAD(P)H or analogs thereof for determination of triglyceride.
Abstract:
Reagent and method for the quantitative dosing of a viral DNA such as that of hepatitis B. The reagent contains as a mixture on one hand a predetermined concentration of a phage, wherein is packaged a DNA probe which may be hybridized to the viral DNA to be dosed, and on the other hand proteins. The method comprises contacting said reagent with the sample containing the viral DNA to be dosed in conditions enabling hybridation, and comparing the quantities of hybrids formed with a predetermined chart to finally determine the viral DNA concentration of the sample.

Methods for detection of hepatitis GB Virus (HGBV) antigen in test samples. Antibodies to the E2 region of the HGBV are utilized to capture antigen in test samples. Methods include immunoassay and antigen capture polymerase chain reaction. Antibodies are provided which are useful as diagnostic reagents and are provided in test kits.
Abstract:
A variant human alpha 7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) polypeptide is provided wherein the variant contains an amino acid substitution at the valine-274 position of the wild-type human alpha 7 nAChR. Nucleic acid molecules encoding the variant human alpha 7 nAChR, vectors and host cells containing such nucleic acid molecules are also provided. In addition, methods are provided for producing the variant as are methods of using such variants for screening compounds for activity at the nAChR.
