    Abstract: There is disclosed a multi-carrier transceiver system for use in echo-cancellation. The transceiver system is arranged to generate from input data (1) a multi-carrier transmit signal (u) comprising a plurality of multi-carrier data blocks. The transceiver system also has a multi-carrier signal receiver responsive to an input multi-carrier receive signal (Yi) received from a remote signal transmitter. An echo canceller (2000) is arranged to generate from a pair of multi-carrier data blocks (u) a set of frequency-domain echo parameters (W) for use in generating an echo signal (Y ), to generate the echo signal using the frequency-domain echo parameters (W), and to input the echo signal (Y ) to the multi-carrier signal receiver for use in generating an echo-cancelled receive signal (Ei) from the input receive signal (Yi) and the echo signal (Y ).

    Abstract: An equalizer for a multi carrier transmission system, converts a transmitted multi carrier signal into sampled frequency domain signals, and suppresses time domain delay dispersion, on the sampled frequency domain signals. It exploits circulant decomposition of a Toeplitz matrix to enable the computationally heavy evaluation of a matrix multiplied by a vector, to be avoided. Increased precision arises from the frequency domain processing being equivalent to a longer time domain FIR filter than is normally practical. The amount of compensation for different carriers can be adjusted, which can lead to increased precision.

    Abstract: A layered capacitor device with high capacitance per unit area is realised by alternating in the vertical direction first layers (FL1, FL2, FL3, FL4, FL5) and second layers (SL1, SL2, SL3, SL4). A first layer (FL2) consists of horizontally alternating electrically conducting tracks (T2,2; T2,3) and electrically insulating tracks, whereas a second layer consists of electrically insulating material, e.g. an oxide. In this way top-bottom capacitors (CTB) and side-wall capacitors (CSW) are constituted that are parallel coupled to form the layered capacitor device. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, this parallel coupling is realised by conductively interconnecting diagonally neighbouring electrically conducting tracks (T1,2; T2,3).

    Abstract: The enclosure assembly comprises a stationary member including at least two substantially parallel sidewalls, the sidewalls, the sidewalls partially defining a cavity in which the fingerprint sensor is disposed. An access piece, configured to move relative to the stationary member, has a surface area larger than the surface area of the fingerprint sensor and further includes a conductive portion electrically coupled to ground. A movement apparatus is preferably mechanically coupled to the stationary member and the moveable access piece. The movement apparatus is configured to maintain the moveable access piece in a position covering the fingerprint sensor and yet to allow motion of the moveable access piece relative to the stationary member so as to expose the fingerprint sensor. According to another embodiment, a method for enrolling a composite image of an object using a fingerprint sensor is provided. According to an embodiment, the method comprises the steps of receiving a finger disposed over a fingerprint sensor in a first stationary position; capturing a first image of a first portion of the finger with the fingerprint sensor; causing the finger to be repositioned over the fingerprint sensor in a second stationary position; capturing a second image of a second portion of the finger with the fingerprint sensor; and constructing a representative image of the finger from the first and second images.
