Abstract:
A back treatment apparatus (10), constituted of: a support member (50) arranged to support a lumbar region (130); a translation mechanism (210); and a control circuitry (100), the control circuitry arranged to control the translation mechanism to translate the support member along a plurality of paths and rotate the support member about at least one axis in a predetermined range of motion. Preferably, the plurality of paths is constituted of at least: a generally linear path along an axis generally perpendicular in relation to a plane defined by the support member; and a generally linear path along an axis generally parallel in relation to the plane defined by the support member. Preferably, the back treatment apparatus is portable.
Abstract:
A respiration-assistance apparatus or method can include or use a lifting element such as to cyclically push, pull, or lift, toward a superior direction of the subject, at least one subject region during an inhalation portion of a respiration cycle of the subject. A cyclical member can couple the lifting element to a fixed reference. Abdominal or ribcage compression can be provided. A multi-action or other cam can be used, such as together with a reciprocating element. Examples can be configured for use with a wheelchair, a bed, a vacuum or suction affixation element, a wearable garment, etc.
Abstract:
An apparatus for displaying acupuncture points according to the present invention recognizes a curved surface of a human body via 3D scanning, and then sets acupuncture points corresponding to the body surface that has been recognized to project them onto the body. More specifically, the apparatus for displaying acupuncture points comprises: a 3D scanner for performing 3D scanning; a control unit for setting acupuncture points by using the data that has been scanned by the 3D scanner; and a projection unit for projecting the acupuncture points that have been set by the control unit onto the body. Accordingly, the present invention allows accurate selection of acupuncture points on a highly curved surface of a human body.
Abstract:
A seat (5) includes a sensor (21) mounted on the seat which is arranged to sense the presence of an object, or movement or position of an object in a non-contact manner, within a sensing region around the seat. A processor is arranged to receive an audio signal and to process the audio signal based on presence, movement or position detected by the first sensor. A processed signal is delivered to a vibro-acoustic transducer mounted within the seat. The processor can also control a lighting effect based on presence, movement or position detected by the first sensor. A user can interact with audio in a personal way, to suit the mood of the user. A seated user can move their body (especially arms or hands) to modify audio, such as music. The seat has a nodule (12) which, in use, fits between the legs of a seated user. The nodule can house the sensor (21) and user controls.
Abstract:
A massage apparatus is provided with a housing, and a substrate mounted for rotation to the housing and driven by a motor. A massage node and a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heater are mounted to the substrate. A pair of contacts and a pair of brushes maintain electrical engagement of the PTC heater with the housing during rotation of the substrate. Another embodiment provides an infrared light emitting diode (LED) beneath the massage node in electrical communication with the housing due to the contacts and brushes. Another embodiment provides a method for imparting a heated massage effect by providing a massage apparatus with a message mechanism, a PTC heater and a plurality of infrared LEDs. A massage effect is imparted and a warm-up operation is initiated of the PTC heater and the LEDs. The warm-up operation of the PTC heater is discontinued upon the massage mechanism reaching a predefined temperature.
Abstract:
An apparatus for massaging a prostate includes a body having a substantially ellipsoid shape and sized to fit in a rectum through a sphincter, wherein the body comprises a head portion and a neck portion, wherein the head portion is configured to contact the prostate through the rectum wall when inserted in the rectum, and wherein the neck portion has a tapered section with gradually reducing diameters distal to the head portion; and a retainer bar joined the body at one end of the neck portion to form a substantially T-shaped structure, wherein the retainer bar comprises two contact points for contacting a first acupressure point, which is located in the perineum region between the anus and the scrotum, and a second acupressure point, which is located about midway between the anus and the lower end of the coccyx.
Abstract:
A vibrating footplate operates at two or more vibration modes to provide stimulation to bone and muscle of a human body having multiple modes of resonance. The stimulation system (10) includes a floor unit (12) having an upper footplate (14) with cam followers (20) resting against cams (22). The cams are positioned near the four corners of the plate (32) and have three primary lobes (60) spaced at 120 deg. around the cam and three secondary lobes (62) spaced at 120 deg. in between each of the primary lobes (60). The primary and secondary lobes are of different heights so as to impart periodic accelerations respectively at different times having different amplitudes. The cams turn in unison and in the same phase.
