    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a hair rinse composition having excellent hair conditioning effect, by using a cationic surface-active agent in combination with a specific derivative of keratin decomposition product. CONSTITUTION:A composition containing (A) a cationic surface-active agent, pref. a quaternary ammonium slat of formulaI(one or two of R1-R4 are 8- 20C long-chain alkyl or long-chain hydroxyalkyl, and the others are 1-3C alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, or benzyl; X is halogen or alkyl), e.g. distearyldimethylammonium chloride and (B) a derivative of decomposed keratin, selected from the group consisting of (i) hydrolyzed keratin (the product obtained by hydrolyzing keratin with an acid, an alkali, etc.), (ii) alkali metal salt of oxidative decomposition product of keratin, and (iii) alkali metal salt of the derivative (e.g. formula II) at the thiol group of the reducive decomposition product of keratin. The amounts of the components (A) and (B) in the whole composition are 0.01-10wt% and 0.1-5wt%, respectively.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an electrostatic charge image developing toner capable of forming an image superior in image quality by obtaining a toner specified in relation between a number average particle diameter and a particle diameter distribution and containing a specified proportion of fluorine element in a surface layer. CONSTITUTION:The entitled spherical toner having superior lubricity and developing, transfer, cleaning, and the like performances can be obtained by dispersing a polymerizable monomer composition containing an electric charge controller and a colorant into an aqueous medium containing calcium phosphate and a fluorine type surfactant, shearing and dividing the liquid drops of the monomer composition into a particle diameter suitable for the toner in the aqueous medium, subjecting the monomer to suspension polymerization, and forming polymer particles containing the fluorine element in an F/C atomic ratio of 0.01-1.0 in the surface layers of the particles and having a particle diameter of 5-25mum, and a particle diameter variance coefficient (y) defined by equation 1 and satisfying expression II, where S is the standard deviation of the number average particle diameter distribution (mum), and (x) is number average particle diameter (mum).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the subject particles which are useful as an emulsifying agent, a slow release agent composition, a cement admixture, etc. easily in a high yield, by subjecting maleic anhydride and a vinyl monomer to radical polymerization in a specific solvent in the presence of a tertiary amine compound. CONSTITUTION:Maleic anhydride (A) and a vinyl monomer (B) copolymerizable with the component (A) selected from the group consisting of 2-22C olefins, styrene monomers, vinyl ethers of 1-22C alkyls, vinyl esters of 2-22C aliphatic carboxylic acids, etc., are subjected to radical copolymerization in a solvent (D) which dissolves the above monomer but does not dissolve the copolymer that will be produced in such an amount that the concentration of the copolymer that will be produced is 5-35wt.% at 30-150 deg.C, with the molar ratio of A to B being 1/2-2/1, in the presence of a tertiary amine compound (C) of the given formula [wherein R1-3 is 8-22C linear or branched higher alkyl or alkenyl, 8-22C higher hydroxy-alkyl or -alkenyl, 1-2C lower (hydroxy)alkyl, or benzyl] in an amount of 0.05-20pts.wt. for 100pts.wt. of the component (A), thereby producing the title particles of which particle distribution is monodisperse and which will not form any aggregate and has a particle diameter of 10mum or below.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the subject particles which are useful as an emulsion stabilizer, a sizing agent for paper, a concrete slump loss inhibitor, etc. easily in a high yield, by subjecting maleic anhydride and a vinyl monomer to radical polymerization in a specific solvent in the presence of a cellulose ester or cellu lose ether. CONSTITUTION:Maleic anhydride (A) and a vinyl monomer (B) copolymerizable with the component (A) selected from the group consisting of 2-22C olefins, styrene monomers, vinyl ethers of 1-22C alkyls, vinyl esters of 2-22C aliphatic carboxylic acids, etc. are subjected to radical copolymerization in a solvent (D) which dissolves the above monomer but does not dissolve the copolymer that will be produced in such an amount that the concentration of the copolymer that will be produced is 5-35wt.% at 30-150 deg.C, with the molar ratio of A to B being 1/2-2/1, in the presence of a cellulose ester or cellulose ether (C) having a weight-average molecular weight (according to GPC) of 1,000-800,000 in an amount of 0.05-20pts.wt. for 100pts.wt. component (A), thereby producing the title particles of which particle distribution is monodisperse and which will not form any aggregate and has a particle diameter of 10mum or below.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain in high efficiency polymer granules of narrow granular size distribution along with stably retaining the polymerization system, by inverse phase suspension polymerization of a water-soluble ethylenic unsaturated monomer using, as the dispersant, a combination of a specific oil-soluble cationic copolymer and nonionic surfactant. CONSTITUTION:Using as the dispersant, a combination of (A) an oil-soluble cationic copolymer obtained by copolymerization between 70-99.5mol% of a lipophilic ethylenic unsaturated monomer (e.g., styrene, alkyl-substituted styrene) and 0.5-30wt.% of a second ethylenic unsaturated monomer having quaternary ammonium group [e.g., dialkylaminoalkyl(meth)acrylate quaternary salt] and (B) a nonionic surfactant (e.g., sucrose fatty acid ester, sorbitan fatty acid ester), a water-soluble ethylenic unsaturated monomer is put to inverse phase suspension polymerization in a hydrophobic solvent. Preferably, the amount of the component A to be used is 0.1-10wt.% based on the water-soluble ethylenic unsaturated monomer, whereas for the component B, 0.05-5wt.%.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title polymer which has a controllable MW and is prevented from causing coloration and malodor, by polymerizing at least one member of water-soluble vinyl monomers in the presence of a water-soluble azoic radical polymn. initiator and hydrogensulfite ions having a concn. in a specified range in an aq. solvent. CONSTITUTION:At least one member of water-soluble vinyl monomers, such as (meth)acrylic ester derivatives, alkali metal salts of styrenesulfonate or N- vinylpyrrolidone, are submitted to a radical polymn. in the presence of a water- soluble azoic radical polymn. initiator, such as 2,2'-azobis(2-amidinopropane) dihydrochloride, and with the addition of NaHSO3 so that 0.1-30mol.% (per monomer) hydrogensulfite ions is present, with a pH adjusted to 3-9 at 10-95 deg.C, pref. in a nitrogen atmosphere, whereby the title polymer having an MW of 1,000-100,000 is obtd. in a high reproducibility.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To uniformly disperse an electrostatic charge control agent and to improve image quality by dispersing the charge control agent in the presence of a specific compd. CONSTITUTION:This toner contains a binder polymer (e.g.: styrene/n-butyl acrylate copolymer), the charge control agent, coloring agent and the polyoxyalkylene(alkyl)phenyl ether deriv. expressed by the formula I and/or the formula II. In the formulas, R1 denotes a alkyl of 1-18C, H; R2 denotes H, CH3; A denotes alkylene of 2-4C; l denotes 1-20; m denotes 1-5; n denotes 1-100. The charge control agent is preferably an azo metallic complex dye (e.g. the dye expressed by the formula III). This toner is obtd. by dispersing the charge control agent, coloring agent, etc., in the presence of the above- mentioned deriv. into a polymerizable monomer, then subjecting the dispersion to a suspension polymn.
