Abstract:
Polymeric composites and methods of manufacturing polymeric composites are described. In one embodiment, a set of microcapsules containing a phase change material are mixed with a dispersing polymeric material to form a first blend. The dispersing polymeric material has a latent heat of at least 40 J/g and a transition temperature in the range of 0°C to 50°C. The first blend is processed to form a polymeric composite. The polymeric composite can be formed in a variety of shapes, such as pellets, fibers, flakes, sheets, films, rods, and so forth. The polymeric composite can be used as is or incorporated in various articles where a thermal regulating property is desired.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns blends comprising at least one shape memory polymer and at least one thermoplastic polymer, wherein this thermoplastic polymer does not show shape memory properties. The present invention furthermore concerns methods for preparing such blends and the use of these blends in various applications, including additional products, household equipment etc.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to coating compositions containing a polymeric or copolymeric levelling agent, which has been prepared by nitroxyl-mediated polymerisation. Further aspects are a process for the preparation of smooth surface coatings and the use of said polymer or copolymer as levelling agent in coating compositions. Yet another aspect are specific ethylenically unsaturated monomer compositions from which copolymers can be obtained by atom transfer radical polymerisation or nitroxyl mediated polymerisation, which copolymers are useful as levelling agents in coating compositions. Still another aspect is the use of poly-tert.-butyl acrylate or poly-tert.butylmethacrylate as a levelling agent in powder coating compositions.

A skin patch that can enhance the water resistance and handling easiness and can alleviate any irritation on the user. There is provided a skin patch comprising a flexible backing and, superimposed thereon, a plaster layer wherein the plaster layer contains a styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer and has a glass transition temperature (Tg) of -45° to -35°C and a tan ´ (lag angle) value, determined at dynamic viscoelasticity measurement (frequency 6.2832 rad/s) at 45°C, of 0.25 or less.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an oxygen scavenger composition comprising a mixture of (i) a polyester polymer composed of polymer segments containing cycloalkenyl group or functionality; and (ii) an ester type polymer selected from (a)a polyester having a high content of alkylene groups; (b) a polylactone; and (c) a polyvinylacetate having at least about 50 weight percent vinyl acetate mer units therein. The present polymer composition has been found to act as an oxygen scavenger agent under both ambient and refrigerated conditions, to be compatible with conventional film forming packaging materials, to provide compositions exhibiting low tack, and to be capable of being readily processed using conventional film forming equipment.
