    Abstract: After the amnoxidn. of propylene, the reaction effluent was directly contacted with aq. stream in a quench column. The acrylonitrile and HCN were recovered in the form of aq. soln, and some of the water and impurities were removed by distn. to form a concentrated aq. mixture of acrylonitrile and HCN, which was distilled in an HCN distn. column to remove the HCN in an overhead stream. A side stream in the HCN distn. column was fed to a decanter where an aq. layer and an org. layer were formed.

    Abstract: Nitryl polymer for coating metal is prepd. by graft copolymg. acrylonitrile(I) and Me acrylate(II) or styrene with latexes of nitrile rubber of SBR, resp. Thus, a 31.1% solid rubber latex was prepd. by polymn. of 40 parts I with 60 parts 1,3-butadiene in water in the presence of AIBN tert- dodecyl mercaptan and emulsifier, and 31.9 parts of the rubber latex was polymd. with 75 parts I and 25 parts II in water in the presence of K2S2O8, in emulsifier, n-dodecyl mercaptan, and EDTA to give 33% solids copolymer latex.
