    Abstract: A COXIII gene derived from Sancheong berkshire and a primer specific to the Sancheong berkshire designed from the COXIII gene are provided to identify the Sancheong berkshire accurately and conveniently within a short time and be used to develop a novel Korean min-pig based on the Sancheong berkshire. A COXIII gene derived from Sancheong berkshire consists of SEQ ID: NO. 1. A primer for identifying the Sancheong berkshire consists of SEQ ID : NO. 3 or 4. A method for identifying the Sancheong berkshire comprises the steps of: (a) obtaining cDNA or gDNA from a pig; (b) subjecting the obtained cDNA or gDNA as a template to PCR using a primer pair consisting of SEQ ID : NOs. 3 and 4; and (c) electrophoresing a reaction product obtained from the step(b) to identify a band specific to the Sancheong berkshire.

    Abstract: A cDNA chip which early diagnoses a gene related to the growth, meat quality and breeding character of pig is provided to analyze the massive gene source of pig at once. A method for producing a cDNA chip which diagnoses a gene related to the growth, meat quality and breeding character of pig comprises: a step of preparing tissue sample from a tissue and blood of pig; a step of isolating RNA from the tissue sample; a step of producing cDNA library with 4,172 ESTs cloned from RNA; a step of producing a 4,200 cDNA chips containing 28 gene of beta-actin(Acc. No. DQ845171) and 18S(Acc. No. AF102857); and a step of mixing 254 gene having the significance in growth, meat quality and breeding character and 10 positive control genes to produce 264 cDNA chips.
