    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for producing a multi-channel optical fiber array by using silicon substrate and galvanoformung plating is provided to simplify producing processes for reducing producing cost while precisely processing. CONSTITUTION: V-grooves are formed and etched on silicon substrates by a semiconductor process. Two silicon substrates are attached for the etched surfaces to face each other. Thus, the first metal mold is formed. Metal is filled in space of the metal mold to produce a fine pin metal structure(20). A V-groove structure(30) is processed to fix a fine pin(21) of the metal structure. The fine pin is fixed in the V-groove to form an inner core. High molecular resin is injected to an external mold(40) to injection mold.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus of fusion splicing optical fibers for manufacturing an optical coupler. The apparatus comprises a base plate(5), a linear shaft mount(3), a pair of linear slides(28), a heating torch(1) and a reciprocator. The linear shaft mount(3) is installed on both sides of the base plate(5) to support each linear shaft(4). Each holder mount(2) of the optical fibers is installed on the linear slides(28) which slide along the linear shafts(4). The heating torch(1) reciprocates on the linear slides(28) to heat the optical fibers. The reciprocator widens or narrows the space between each linear shaft(4). Thereby, the optical fibers can be spliced together by uniform heating, stretching and fusing without over stress.
