    Abstract: Printing inks comprise a solution of a dye salt of (a) a dye base of the induline, nigrosine, diarylmethane, triarylmethane, azo, xanthene, methine, azomethine, diazopolymethine, acridine, safranine or oxazine series and (b) the free sulphonic or carboxylic acid of a dye of the azo, triphenylmethane or xanthane series in a glycol or a glycol ether, e.g. of general formula H-(O-R1-)n-O-R2, wherein R1 is C1-C4 alkylene, R2 is H or C1-C4 alkyl, and n is 1-6. Specified dye bases (a) are Induline Base N, Nigrosine Base C, Auramine Base, Methyl Violet Base, Chrysoidine Base or Rhodamine Base; specified dye acids (b) are the sulphonic acids of Metanil Yellow, Fast Silk Yellow, Acid Violet and Fast Acid Violet and the dye acid of Eosin. Specified glycols and glycol ethers are glycols themselves, the polyglycols diethylene, triethylene or dipropylene glycol, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether and triethylene glycol monobutyl ether. Components (a) and (b) may be reacted in the glycol solvent at 20-60 DEG C.
