    Abstract: Caprolactam is obtained from mixtures which contain polymers or thermoplastic molding materials having the repeating unit -N(H)-(CH2)5-C(O)- (a) by cleavage at elevated temperatures in the presence of a base under reduced pressure or (b) in the presence of water, by using a mixture essentially comprising from 50 to 99.9% by weight of a polymer or of a thermoplastic molding material having the repeating unit -N(H)-(CH2)5-C(O)- from 0.1 to 50% by weight of additives selected from the group consisting of inorganic fillers, organic and inorganic pigments and dyes, from 0 to 10% by weight of organic and/or inorganic additives, from 0 to 40% by weight of non-polyamide-containing polymers and from 0 to 20% by weight of polyamides, with the exception of polycaprolactam and copolyamides prepared from caprolactam, and carrying out the cleavage in the presence of a base under reduced pressure, the water content of the mixture used being not more than 0.01% by weight, or carrying out the cleavage in the presence of water without the addition of acid or base at from 270 DEG to 350 DEG C. and a weight ratio of water to polymer or thermoplastic molding material of from 1:1 to 20:1 and in a reaction time of less than 3 hours.

    Abstract: Se obtiene caprolactama a partir de mezclas que contienen polímeros o materiales de moldeo termoplásticos que tienen la unidad respectiva -[-N(H)-(CH2)5-C(O)-]-, (a) mediante despolimerizacion a temperaturas elevadas en presencia de una base bajo presion reducida o (b) en presencia de agua, utilizando una mezcla que comprende esencialmente de 50 a 99.9% en peso de un polímero o de un material de moldeo termoplástico que tiene la unidad repetitiva -[-N(H)-(CH2)5-C(O)-]-, de 0.1 a 50% en peso de aditivos seleccionados a partir del grupo que consiste en rellenos inorgánicos, pigmentos y colorantes orgánicos e inorgánicos, de 0 a 10% en peso de aditivos orgánicos y/o inorgánicos, de 0 a 40% en peso de un polímero que no contienen poliamida y de 0a 20% en peso de poliamidas, con la excepcion de policaprolactama y copoliamidas preparadas a partir de caprolactama, y llevar a cabo la despolimerizacion en presencia de una base bajo presion reducida, el contenido de agua de la mezcla utilizada no siendo más de 0.01% en peso, o llevar a cabo la despolimerizacion en presencia de agua sin la adicion deácido o base a de 270 a 350 degree C y una relacion en peso de agua a polímero o material de moldeo termoplástico de 1:1 a 20:1 y en un tiempo de reaccion de menos de 3 horas.

    Abstract: A tanker (I) is washed with high pressure water (1) with the effluent liquid passing to storage/disposal (II), and any displaced vapors being pumped away by a pump (III) via a water disentrainment device (IV) and fed into a combustion chamber (V) from where combustion products are cooled through a heat recovery unit (VI) before being washed with alkaline solution in a scrubber (VII) and discharged to the atmosphere via a stack (VIII). A tanker (I), in a cleaning station, is washed with high pressure water (1), optionally containing detergents, with the effluent liquid passing to storage/disposal (II), and any displaced vapors, etc. being pumped away by a pump (III) via a water disentrainment device (IV) and fed into a combustion chamber (V) maintained at 800-1200 deg C. The combustion products from the furnace (V) are cooled through a heat recovery unit (VI) before being washed with alkaline solution in a scrubber (VII) and discharged to atmosphere via a stack (VIII). The vapor pump may be a liquid ring pump or a fan, etc.
