Abstract: The production of rigid polyurethane (PUR) foam with a low bulk density (I) comprises reacting (a) polyisocyanates and/or modified polyisocyanates with (b) high-mol. wt. compound(s) with at least two reactive hydrogens and optionally (c) low-mol. wt. chain-extenders and/or crosslinkers in presence of (d) blowing agents, (e) catalysts and optionally (f) other additives etc. Component (d) consists of a mixture of (d-1) cyclopentane, (d-2) at least one 3-4C alkane and/or alkene which forms a homogeneous mixture with cyclopentane and (d-3) the carbon dioxide from the reaction of water and isocyanate. Component (b) comprises aromatic nitrogen-containing polyethers.

In the production of rigid polyurethane (PUR) foam with low thermal conductivity by reacting: (a) organic and/or modified organic polyisocyanates with (b) compound(s) containing NOTLESS 2 reactive hydrogen (H) atoms and having a molecular weight of over 400 g/mole and optionally (c) H-functional low-molecular chain extenders and/or crosslinking agents of molecular weight less than 400 g/mole in the presence of (d) blowing agents, (e) catalysts and optionally (f) additives component (b) contains (cyclo)alkyl-, aralkyl-, benzyl- and/or aryl-(alkoxy)alkanol(s) of formula (I). R, R' = (m)ethyl, 3-6 carbon (C) alkyl or hydrogen (H); R' may also = benzyl; n = 0-4; m, o = 1-3; X = n-, iso-, neo- or cycloalkyl, aralkyl, benzyl or aryl; and m + o = 4. An Independent claim is also included for the use of compounds (I) in the production of rigid PUR foam with reduced thermal conductivity.

Abstract: Se producen espumas de poliuretano rígidas haciendo reaccionar a) Diisocianatos orgánicos y/o orgánicos modificados y/o poliisocianatos con b) Polioles de poliéster específicos y/o polioles de éster de poliéter que pueden prepararse mediante policondensacion de ácido dicarboxílico con alcoholes polifuncionales utilizando tereftalatos de polialquileno y, si se desea, reaccion subsecuente con oxidos de alquileno inferior más si se desea, compuestos en peso molecular relativamente elevado adicionales, que contiene por lo menos dos átomos de hidrogeno reactivos y, si se desea, c) extendedores de cadena de peso molecular bajo y/o reticuladores en presencia de d) agentes de soplado e) catalizadores y, si se desea; f) auxiliares adicionales y/o aditivos, en donde los polioles de poliéster y/o polioles deéster de poliéter se preparan en una policondensacion en etapas, en donde la primera etapa se introduce tereftalato de polialquileno en adicion a los componentes de partida en la condensacion, a medida que se comienza y/o mientras que ésta se inicia y en por lo menos una etapa adicional, se adicionan substancias catalíticamente activas. Estas espumas de poliuretano rígidas se puede usar como material aislante para los sectores de refrigeracion y de energía a gran distancia, como material de emparedado en edificacion y construccion, y como soporte y material de formacion en el sector de muebles.
