    Abstract: alpha -Monoolefins are polymerized using a Ziegler catalyst system comprising (1) a transition metal catalyst component and (2) an organoaluminum catalyst component, in which (1) is a solid-phase product (VI) obtained by (1.1) first combining (1.1.1) an inorganic oxidic substance (I), as the carrier, with (1.1.2) a solution (II) consisting of (IIa) an organic solvent and (IIb) a transition metal composition to form a suspension (III), evaporating down this suspension to form a solid-phase intermediate (IV), and (1.2) then (1.2.1) combining the solid-phase intermediate (IV), obtained from (1.1), with (1.2.2) a solution of an organoaluminum compound (V) to form a suspension, the resulting suspended solid-phase product (VI) being the transition metal catalyst component (1). The characteristic feature is that (1) is a solid-phase product (VI) obtained using a solution (II) consisting of (IIa) a certain oxahydrocarbon and (IIb) a mixture of (IIb1) a vanadium trichloride/alcohol complex, (IIb2) a titanium trihalide and (IIb3) a zirconium tetrahalide.

(B) is, e.g., 4,4'-diamino-diphenylsulphone (DDS) or dicyandiamide, (C) is polyether-sulphone, (D) is Cab-O-Sil M5 or Aerosil 200 (RTM). USE/ADVANTAGE - Epoxy resin mixts. are used for the prodn. of prepregs for fibre-reinforced composites. Mixts. have improved rheological properties, i.e., relatively constant high viscosity under curing conditions (so that the resin does not run out) combined with a sufficiently low viscosity for the impregnation stage.

    Abstract: Highly dilatant copolymer dispersions which contain, as essential components, an emulsion copolymer prepared from 1 to 10% by weight, based on the total amount of monomers employed, of alpha , beta - monoolefinically unsaturated carboxylic acids and other olefinically unsaturated monomers are characterised in that the emulsion copolymer is prepared in the presence of from 5 to 30% by weight, based on the total amount of monomers employed, of an allyl or alkylallyl carboxylate containing 2 or more copolymerisable, olefinic double bonds, or a mixture thereof, where the alkyl radical contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
