Abstract: Method for detecting marked mineral oils by treating the marked mineral oil with an extractant comprising water, a solvent and a base comprises using as marker an azo dye of the formula where ring A may be benzofused, m is from 1 to 4, X1 is hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl, cyano or nitro, X2 is hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl, cyano, nitro, C1-C4-alkoxy or C1-C16-alkoxycarbonyl, X3 is hydrogen, C1-C4-alkyl, cyano or C1-C16-alkoxycarbonyl, and X4 is hydrogen, hydroxyl, substituted or unsubstituted C1-C8-alkyl, C1-C4-alkoxy, amino, C1-C4-dialkylamino or substituted or unsubstituted C1-C16-monoalkylamino, as solvent a partially or completely water-miscible organic solvent, and as base an alkali or alkaline earth metal hydroxide, an alkali metal carbonate or a quaternary ammonium hydroxide, the use of azo dyes as markers for mineral oils, and novel azo dyes.

Abstract: Polyethyleneimine-containing azo dyes of the formula [(D-N=N-K-)yX-]mP where D is the radical of a diazo component which is derived from an isocyclic aromatic amine or from a heteroaromatic amine and is free of hydroxysulfonyl groups, K is the radical of a coupling component of the hydroxynaphthalene, aminopyridine or pyrazolone series which has at most one hydroxysulfonyl group, or is the radical of a coupling component derived from acetoacetic acid, y is 1 or 2, X is a covalent bond or a bridge member if y is 1 or a bridge member if y is 2, and P is the radical of a polyethyleneimine whose degree of polymerization n is from 5 to 25000, and the number m of chromophore radicals is dependent upon the degree of polymerization n and is defined by the ratio m:n=from 1:1 to 1:35, with the proviso that when K is substituted by hydroxysulfonyl the ratio m:n is from 1:2 to 1:35, are useful for dyeing or printing fiber materials and for preparing inks for the ink jet process.

Abstract: Aqueous pretreatment liquor for preparing a textile substrate for inkjet printing, comprising (A) one or more polycationic compounds, (B) one or more thickeners, (C) optionally customary additives, (C) water. Preferred polycationic compounds (A) are polymers or copolymers of diallyldialkylammonium monomers. Preferred thickeners are obtainable from (i) polyetherdiols, (ii) diisocyanates and (iii) compounds, R of the general formula R-OH, R-SH, R-NH 2 , RR NH or R-COOH, where R is a hydrophobic aliphatic or aromatic radical of at least 4 carbon atoms and R-OH may have been alkoxylated, and also further derivatives thereof that are capable of forming a urethane, thiourethane or urea bond, or from (i) polyetherdiols with (iv) compounds of the general formula R-OH or R-COOH, where R is a hydrophobic aliphatic or aromatic radical of at least 4 carbon atoms and R-OH may have been alkoxylated, and also further derivatives thereof that are capable of forming an ether or ester bond, and or from compounds (ii) and (iii).

The invention is characterised in that the coating contains a polymer A as a binder, this polymer having less than 1 mol/(kg polymer A) reactive groups selected from ethylenically unsaturated double bonds and epoxy groups and at least 2 mol/(kg polymer A) functional groups of formula (I), wherein Y represents N-H or oxygen.
