Abstract: Moulding materials (M) comprise (I) 30-100 wt.% of a mixt. of (A) at least 99.98 wt.% polyarylene ether sulphone formed from (A1) 0-100 mol.% units of formula (IA1) and/or (A2) 0-100 mol.% units of formula (IA2), and (B) up to 0.02 wt.% one or more aliphatic solvents; (II) 0-70 wt.% fibrous and/or particulate fillers; (III) 0-20 wt.% other additives and/or processing aids resulting from a base catalysed polycondensation reaction of the corresp. aromatic hydroxy- and halogen-substd. monomers in the presence of (B) followed by sepn. of (B), whereby the polycondensate ppts. by evapn., and/or extn., until the desired content of (B), prior to the first melting step is obtd. USE/ADVANTAGE - (M) are useful for the prodn. of moulded articles, sheets and fibres particularly for so-called visible components, e.g., equipment housings or wall coverings in vehicles or for household articles such as food packaging, electrical or electronic equipment or for medical use. Abstract: Moulding materials (MM), containing (A) 5-97.9 wt% polycarbonate with a mol. wt. (Mw) of 10000-64000, (B) 1-93.9 wt% graft copolymer, (C) 1-93.9 wt% of a copolymer of (c1) a vinylaromatic compound of formula (I), in which R = H or 1-8C alkyl, R = 1-8C alkyl and n = 0-3, or a (1-8C alkyl) acrylate and/or (1-8C alkyl) (1-8C alkyl)acrylate and (c2) acrylonitrile and/or (1-8C alkyl)acrylonitrile, (D) 0.01-10 wt% polyhydroxy- ether derived from an aliphatic or aromatic diol and epihalohydrin, (E) 0-25 wt% halogen-free phosphorus compound and (F) 0-50 wt% additives. Also claimed are: (i) mouldings, film or fibres containing MM, and (ii) fire retardants containing 0.01-10 wt% component (D) and 90-99.99 wt% component (E).
