Abstract: Prepn. of quat. copolymers of (A) 20-99 wt.% N-vinyl lactam(s); (B) 1-80 wt.% dialkylaminoalkyl (meth)acrylate(s) in quat. form and (C) 0-50 wt.% free radical polymerisable comonomer(s) is effected by: (i) quaternising monomer(s) (B) with an alkylating agent; and then (ii) copolymerising the quaternised monomer(s) with (A) and (C).
