Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for cleaning waste water by bringing the waste water to be cleaned in contact with a strand-shaped TiO2 photocatalyst, which has a BET surface of 25 to 200 m2/g, a pore volume of 0.10 to 1.00 m L/g, and a mean pore diameter of 0.005 to 0.050 µm, while being irradiated with light. The invention further relates to the use of said strand shaped TiO2 photocatalyst, which has a BET surface of 25 to 200 m2/g, a pore volume of 0.10 to 1.00 m L/g, and a mean pore diameter of 0.005 to 0.050 µm for cleaning waste water, while being irradiated with light.
