Abstract: A therapy entry, modification and reporting system (110) is described. The system comprises: a website configured to display therapy entry, modification and reporting information; and a system hub (120) configured to manage a flow of the information between the website and a plurality of home therapy machines (100) that perform a home therapy on a patient. The website includes: a therapy prescription screen (1000) configured to specify supplies needed at the patient's home or dwelling for operation with one of the home therapy machines (100), a device program screen (1600, 3400) configured to set parameters by which at least one of the home therapy machines (100) operates to perform the home therapy on the patient, and a clinician dashboard screen (1200, 3000) including a list of patients and a notification associated with at least one of the listed patients, the notification indicating whether a predefined treatment condition or alert occurred during the home therapy.

Abstract: Blood processing systems and methods employ two sensors (334, 336), one (334) to detect a condition of plasma exiting a separation device (18) and another sensor (336) to detect a condition of a cellular component exiting the separation device (18). The first sensor (334) detects, e.g., contamination of the plasma due to the presence of unwanted cellular components. The second sensor (336) detects, e.g., dilution of the cellular component due to presence of plasma. Blood processing parameters are carried out based, at least in part, by conditions detected by one or both of the sensors (334, 336).

Abstract: A blood separation system (10) is described. The system comprises a device (14, 18) which, in use, operates to separate whole blood into red blood cells and plasma, a whole blood inlet line (290) for conveying a flow of whole blood into the device, a plasma collection line (292) for conveying a flow of plasma from the device, and a red blood cell collection line (294) for conveying a flow of red blood cells from the device. A first sensing assembly (334) including a first sensor in the plasma collection line is provided which in use operates to detect a characteristic of plasma in the flow of plasma and to generate a first output. A second sensing assembly (336) including a second sensor in the red blood cell collection line is provided which in use operates to detect a characteristic of red blood cells in the flow of red blood cells and to generate a second output. A controller (16) operates to control flows in the plasma collection line and the red blood cell collection line based upon the first and second outputs.

Abstract: Una conexión de un sistema vascular del paciente a una máquina de tratamiento de sangre extracorpórea es monitoreada para asegurar la seguridad del paciente durante un procedimiento. Para asegurar la conexión eléctrica segura, se conectan un contacto (44) y un retorno (46) a través de una conexión conductiva en el circuito de sangre extra corpóreo. Posteriormente se genera una corriente entre el contacto (44) y el retorno (46) y se monitorea a través de un sensor de no contacto (49) cerca de un sitio de acceso del paciente. Si la corriente u otra cantidad relacionada con la corriente cambian significativamente, se envía una señal a (a máquina o a un controlador para notificar a un cuidador o a un profesional médico. La señal también se puede enviar para detener inmediatamente, una bomba de sangre u otro componente de la máquina.
