Abstract:
The present invention provides a fluorescence ink having a high fluorescence intensity, and an ink jet recording method using the same. The ink contains a first fluorescent coloring material that emits fluorescence at a predetermined fluorescence wavelength to be used for measurement or determination with excitation at a predetermined excitation wavelength, a second fluorescent coloring material that emits fluorescence on excitation at the predetermined excitation wavelength, where the excitation spectrum of the first coloring material in the ink to obtain the fluorescence at the predetermined emission wavelength has a peak wavelength range next to the predetermined fluorescence wavelength, and the emission fluorescence spectrum of the second coloring material has an emission wavelength region substantially including at least the above peak wavelength range.
Abstract:
An aqueous fluorescent ink containing water, a colorant and an organic solvent the latter two soluble or dispersible in water, and used for measuring/judging fluorescence in a visible region with an exciting wavelength in a predetermined ultraviolet region, characterized in that the colorant has a colorant structure having fluorophores, and a water-soluble colorant having a sulfonic group as a water-soluble group in a free acid form is used. The water resistance and light fastness are favorable. The content of the fluorescent colorant in ink can be greatly increased though conventionally only a small amount of fluorescent colorant can be contained because of the concentration quenching problem. The fluorescence is excellent and the recorded image has an excellent water resistance. The resistance of the colorant to fixing to the recording medium and the reliability are also excellent.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an aqueous ink containing water, a plurality of water-soluble organic solvents and a colorant. The colorant is composed of a pigment, and at least one ionic group is bonded to the surface of a pigment particle directly or via an other atomic group. The water-soluble organic solvents contain a good solvent and a poor solvent for the pigment. The poor solvent does not solvate the pigment at all or does not substantially solvate the pigment. The ionic group is not dissociated at all or is not substantially dissociated in the poor solvent. Furthermore, a poor solvent has the largest Ka value, which is determined by the Bristow method, among the water-soluble organic solvents.
Abstract:
A liquid composition for use in a method for recording an image having a step of applying an ink containing a coloring material in a dissolved state or a dispersed state on a recording medium and a step of applying, on the above recording medium, a liquid composition destabilizing the dissolved state or a dispersed state of the above coloring material in the ink by the contact with the ink, characterized in that the above liquid composition comprises a multi-valent metal ion, water and water-soluble organic compounds 1 and 2, the liquid composition contains the above water-soluble organic compound 1 in a content X(%) of 15 mass % or more, and a content X(%) of the above water-soluble organic compound (1) in the liquid composition and a content Y(%) of the above water-soluble organic compound (2) in the liquid composition satisfy a specific relationship. The application of the above liquid composition on a recording medium allows the inhibition of the curling of the medium, while securing the good stability of discharge.
Abstract:
An ink having a sufficiently large area factor even with a small amount of ink droplet and being excellent in shelf life stability is disclosed which enables to obtain an image having excellent image density. Specifically disclosed is a cyan ink used for an ink set comprising four kinds of aqueous inks, namely a cyan ink, a magenta ink, an yellow ink and a black ink, respectively containing at least water, a water-insoluble colorant and a plurality of water-soluble organic solvents including a good solvent for the water-insoluble colorant and a poor solvent for the water-insoluble colorant. The cyan ink is characterized in that the total amount A1 (% by mass) of the good solvent contained in the cyan ink and the total amount B1 (% by mass) of the poor solvent contained in the cyan ink are in a ratio B1/A1 of not less than 0.5 and not more than 3.0; and the water-soluble solvent having the largest Ka value determined by the Bristow method among the water-soluble organic solvents is a poor solvent.

Abstract:
Disclosed is an aqueous ink comprising at least water, a plurality of water-soluble organic solvents and a coloring material. The coloring material is a pigment, and, it contains a pigment particle having at least one ionic group bonded to a surface of the pigment particle directly or via another atomic group. The plurality of water-soluble organic solvents have a good medium or good mediums for the pigment and a poor medium or poor mediums for the pigment. The poor medium does not solvate perfectly or substantially the pigment. The ionic group undergoes perfectly or substantially no ionic dissociation in the poor medium. Also, among the respective Ka values of the plurality of water-soluble organic solvents as determined by the Bristow method, the Ka value of the poor medium is maximum.
