Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a regulating method capable of correcting the lateral shear among respective head units, by a method wherein codes for regulating the lateral shear among respective head units are added to data sent from a host computer, which are recognized as data including the codes on the printer side. CONSTITUTION:The data put into respective memories 12A-12D from a host computer 10 are sent to head units 1A-1D corresponding thereto and the recording is carried out by driving respective head units on the basis thereof. When respective color data stored in the data memories 12A-12D are sent to respective head units 1A-1D, the lateral shear among respective head units is corrected by regulating the read position of the data memory. For instance, if the head unit 1B of magenta is laterally lagged by 4 dot contents (lateral shear delta) leftward to a reference position S, though respective data of yellow, cyan, and black are sent out from reference read positions, the color data of magenta is sent out from a position lagged by 4 dots in the DT direction from the reference read position.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable printing density to be changed according to character type and obtain satisfactory printing quality by providing a character type detection means, heater and blower and controlling them electrically on the basis of the temperature sensing readings of a printing head. CONSTITUTION:If a control signal Si from a host computer 11 indicates a character printing state, a fan 9 and a heater 7 are set to 'low temperature L', and if the control signal indicates a graphic printing state, the fan and heater are set to 'high temperature H'. Thus the fan and heater are controlled respectively. When controlling the heater 7, a timer is actuated for one second, and after checking the elapse of one second, the readings of temperature data Tn from a temperature sensing means 8 are obtained to interprete whether or not the obtained data indicates a lower temperature than a set temperature. If it is lower, the heater 7 is set to 'drive ON' for heating. In addition, when controlling a blower 9, if temperature data from the temperature sensing means 8 shows a higher temperature than a set temperature, the blower is set to 'drive ON', and if it is lower, the blower 9 is stopped.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make the head element structure of upper and lower columns identical to each other by constituting the titled printer such that a shift direction of a data signal of each head element of the upper column and that of the lower column are reversed to each other. CONSTITUTION:The head unit 1 is provided with plural head elements HE1-HE14 arranged in zigzag on upper and lower columns and the elements of an odd number order are arranged to the lower column and those of an even number order are arranged on the upper column respectively. The elements on the upper column are fitted in the normal upper/lower attitude and the elements of the lower column are fitted in the attitude taking upside down together with shift registers SR1, SR3-SR13. Shift registers SR2, SR4-SR14 corresponding to the elements of upper column are connected so that the data signal is inputted from the left sequentially. On the other hand, the shift registers SR1-SR13 of the lower column are connected reversely to the shift direction of the shift registers of upper column.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce number of components at maintenance or assembling by carrying a sheet without picture recording based on a command of an external device and correcting a read error based on an output reading the sheet. CONSTITUTION:With a read command of sheet given from a host computer 50, a controller 54 carries a sheet original onto a contact sensor section 120. In this case, a reflection density data by one line from an original is read, subject to photoelectric conversion by a sensor 111 and transferred to a binarizing circuit 58. The data from the sensor 120 is compared with a new threshold value being the result of addition/subtraction of a correction data RAM 59 to/from a preset threshold value, the result is binarized and transferred to a data memory 52. In this case, the controller 54 uses the sensor section 120 to read a sheet without picture print according to a command of the computer 50. Then the memory 59 is rewritten based on the sensor output. Thus, a threshold value in response to the various changes is formed and an error in white/black level discrimination of the original is avoided.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable selection between serial recording and line-by-line recording, by performing serial recording at a first recording position through photoelectrically reading a sheet fed on a feeding passage, and performing line recording at a second recording position through feeding a rolled form recording paper disposed on the lower side of the feeding passage in the direction opposite to the feeding direction of the sheet. CONSTITUTION:At the time of recording by a thermal head on a sheet 207 fed from a stacker 204, a pick-up roller 308 is lifted up, and at the time of reading the sheet 207, the reading is conducted by pressing a contact sensor 105 against a platen 300, via the manuscript therebetween. When the supply of the next sheet is instructed after completion of recording on or reading of the sheet, the pick-up roller 308 and the contact sensor 105 are returned to initial positions thereof, and the next sheet is supplied from the stacker 204. On the other hand, at the time of recording on a rolled form thermal recording paper by a thermal line head, a paper-feeding motor is rotated to feed the paper to a recording position, and thermal recording is conducted line by line on the basis of data supplied from a controlling part.

CONSTITUTION:Shafts 710, 711 of gears 209, 230 are both formed in a spring clutch structure, and only when a gear 108 rotates counterclockwise and the gear 209 rotated clockwise, the rotation of the gear 209 is transmitted to a gear 209-1. On the other hand, only when the gear 208 rotates clockwise and the gear 230 rotates counterclockwise, the rotation of the gear 230 is transmitted to a gear 230-1. Accordingly, when a sheet feeding motor 103 is rotated clockwise, the gear 209 is slipped, the rotation of the gear 230 is transmitted to the gear 230-1, thereby driving only a rolled sheet feeder. On the contrary, when the motor 103 is rotated counterclockwise, the gear 230 is slipped, the gear 209 transmits its rotation to the gear 209-1, thereby driving a cut sheet feeder.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To keep stable stacking state by disposing a projecting portion at a position biased to the open side of the longitudinal central portion on the base of a stacking portion where recorded recording sheets are stacked, so that the stacked recording sheets are leaned against the side opposite to the open side. CONSTITUTION:After recording by a printer 10, the recorded recording sheet is guided to an upper sheet feed roller 130 and an upper pressure roller 140, separated from the roller 130 by a separationn plate 142, and then stacked on a stacker 6 through a paper guide 145 and a stacker roller 150. In the stacker 6, if a projecting portion 160 is formed a little to the front F of the longitudinal center of a recording sheet P, that is, the center of gravity, the stacked sheets P are leaned against the back B of the stacker 6. Accordingly, the stacked recording sheets are biased to the front by a shock caused by opening and closing a storing portion 2, so that when a stacker door is opened, the recording sheet will not come down from the open portion.

CONSTITUTION:Before reading is started, that is, a sheet 1 is fed to the contact point of a contact sensor 41 and a platen roller 31, the contact sensor 41 is closely brought into contact with the platen roller 31 on the basis of the reading order of the sheet 1 from a host computer 101 to remove the paper powder X bonded to the surface of a reading sensor 42. By this method, the reading sensor 42 has a clean surface to make it possible to perform the reading of the sheet 1. This sheet 1 is fed to a flat platen 66 and a current is supplied to the heat generating element of a thermal head 63 corresponding to recording data to generate heat in an image pattern state and the ink of an ink ribbon is melted or sublimed to be transferred to form a recording image.
