    Abstract: A pigment preparation consists essentially of a) at least one pigment of the azo, anthrapyrimidine, anthanthrone, quinacridone, perinone, diketopyrrolopyrrole, dioxazine, flavanthrone, indanthrone, isoindolinone, isoviolanthrone, perylene, phthalocyanine, pyranthrone or thioindigo pigments class or of a mixture of pigments of various classes and b) at least one dispersant of the general formula (I) in which P, independently of the pigments mentioned in a), represents a radical of an anthanthrone, azo, quinacridone, perinone, diketopyrrolopyrrole, dioxazine, indanthrone, perylene, phthalocyanine or thioindigo pigment, R and R independently of one another denote hydrogen, halogen, C1-C4-alkyl, C1-X4-alkoxy or nitro, and n is a number from 1 to 4, and their use for the pigmentation of high molecular weight materials in the form of plastic masses, melts, spinning solutions, lacquers, in particular of aqueous lacquers based on polyurethane or low-solvent acrylic resin lacquers having a high solids content, paints and printing inks, in particular those based on nitrocellulose.

    Abstract: Perylenetetracarboxylic diimides which contain a radical in the same molecule on one imide nitrogen which acts as an anion but contain a radical on the other imide nitrogen which acts as a cation, and on this basis form inner salts, are available by reaction of sulfo-containing alkylamines with perylenetetracarboxylic monoanhydride monoalkylaminoalkylimides or by reaction of alkylaminoalkylamines with perylenetetracarboxylic monoanhydride monosulfoalkylimides. As a result of their characteristic structural principle, these novel perylene compounds have excellent dispersing properties, in particular for pigments of the same chemical classes of compounds and can even be used themselves as pigments (colorants) depending on the substituent.

    Abstract: A process for the preparation of substituted or unsubstituted 2-(cyanomethyl)benzimidazole of the formula (I) is characterised in that an o-phenylenediamine of the formula (II) in which R is C1-C4-alkyl or C1-C4-alkoxy, preferably methyl or methoxy, and n is an integer from 0 to 2, preferably 0 or 1, in particular 0, is reacted with a cyanoacetic ester of the formula (III> NC-CH2-COOR (III> in which R is unsubstituted or substituted, linear, branched or cyclic C2-C12-alkyl and in which 1 to 3 CH2 groups of the alkyl radical can be replaced in each case by oxygen, at a temperature of 150 - 175@C in a halogen-free inert solvent whose boiling point is equal to or greater than 150@C, or in a mixture of two or more such solvents, without an addition of an aromatic sulphonic acid as catalyst. Using the process according to the invention, 2-(cyanomethyl)benzimidazoles are prepared in good yields and high purity without the use of a catalyst.
