Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for dynamically adjusting the scroll speed of information on various television programs, that television viewers can use and to provide a program product, and to provide a method therefor. SOLUTION: Scroll speed can be changed for reinforcing specified program information with respect to other program information, by making scroll slow for an important program information so as to be easily viewed or making scroll fast for not so important program information so as to be difficult to view. Dynamic scroll speed adjustment can be used for conditions, where it is combined with a noninteractive electronic program list, an interactive electronic program guide and an electronic overlay. Then, dynamic scroll seed adjustment can be performed, base on the various characteristics of the television program, associated with the access frequency of the various television programs, the sponsor of the specified television program and the program information to be displayed, etc.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus within an integrated development environment to increase the efficiency of tracking changes made to source code. The method and apparatus comprise three modes: a constructor mode, a matchmaker mode, and an announcer mode. The constructor first determines what source code/programming constructs are contained within an executable sequence of instructions, evaluates the size of the constructs, and then parses the tokens of the constructs to construct a construct list. The matchmaker determines the degree of similari ty between any two constructs in the construct list. If the degree of similarity is sufficient, that is, if the sequence of code between two constructs is so similar that the sections of code may be considered as related and/or derivatives of one another, the matchmaker then determines if any changes ma de to one section of code may impact the other construct by weighting the changed tokens between the two sets of code. If the change is deemed significant, then the announcer takes over and determines if the developer who owns the related/derived code will be notified that a change has occurre d in the first code.

Abstract: A portable phone is equipped with a position detector that detects the geographical position of the portable phone, and the function of the phone can be changed according to its geographical position. One or more "regions" may be defined by the user of the portable phone, and the ring parameters for each region may be set independently of the other regions. In this manner a phone in accordance with the preferred embodiments may ring with one tone at home, ring with a different tone at work, ring with a louder volume when on a job site, not ring at all when in church, and ring with a vibration when at the theatre. In addition, the preferred embodiments include a dialler that allows selecting a contact from a text list, and that dials a number that depends on the geographical position of the portable phone, or that dials a number and sends with the call the geographical position of the portable phone. The preferred embodiments further allow assigning a telephone number to a defined geographical region, and ringing the portable phone only when within the geographical region that corresponds to the phone number.

Abstract: An apparatus and method allow a web user to select a web page, then quickly and efficiently locate and select any hypertext link on the web page. A web user simply navigates to a web page and scrolls through the web page using the slider 414 on a scroll bar 412. As the web user scrolls through the page, each link 418 that appears on screen is displayed in one of several predefined colors with no two adjacent links being displayed in the same color. When a given hypertext link is within the range 710, of the slider it becomes the current or active link and the slider changes to a color which corresponds to the color of the link. The color change provides a visual cue to the user that the link can now be selected. In addition, when the slider changes color, a link display 730 on the menu bar of the web browser may be used to display the title of the link as indicated by an HTML tag in the web page. As long as the slider remains the color corresponding to the link and the link display shows the title of the link, the user can select the link by simply pressing the right button of the mouse or using some other selection method.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for distinctively and proportionally displaying windows on a computer display screen is disclosed. The amount of time each of the windows presented to the display screen is active ("in focus") is monitored. Upon receipt of a command from the user, the windows that were active a longer length of time are displayed more distinctively than windows that were active a shorter length of time. More specifically, windows are displayed on the display screen having a window size proportional to the length of time each of the window were active. For example, a window that was active 40% of the time will have a size that is 40% of the specified window tiling area. Windows that have not been active long enough to exceed a minimum window tiling threshold are displayed as icons and are not included in the calculations of percentage of activity of the windows.
