Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior information processing system which is a type having a power management function for reducing the power consumption by adequately lowering or stopping the operating frequency of a CPU. SOLUTION: The CPU has a normal mode, a power saving mode which is lower in power consumption than the normal mode, and a stop mode where the operation is completely stopped. Then the system has >=1 peripheral equipment and a bus for communicating with the CPU and further has a communication port which is physically connected to other independent equipments and transfers data and a bus cycle detecting means which monitors bus cycles on the bus. In response to the detection of a bus cycle for assessing the communication port, a state decision means determines the operation mode of the CPU. Once the sate decision means determines the power-saving mode, a control signal for placing the CPU in the power-saving mode is sent to the CPU. Further, a control signal for stopping the CPU is sent once the stop mode is determined.
Abstract:
A data processing system capable of specifying impeding factors that impede power savings is disclosed. The data processing system includes a central processing unit, an operation mode detection unit, and an impeding factors specifying unit. The central processing unit has multiple operation modes, and each of the operation modes has a different rate of power consumption. The operation mode detection unit detects an operation mode of the central processing unit. Based on a history of operation modes of the central processing unit that was detected by the operation mode detection unit, the impeding factors specifying unit specifies a device that considered as an impeding factor to power savings for the data processing system.

There is provided an information processing device capable of identifying an inhibiting factor inhibiting power saving. The information processing device has a plurality of operation modes using different power consumptions and includes: a main device for changing the operation mode according to a reque st from a sub-device; an operation mode detection section for detecting the operation mode of the main device; an inhibiting factor identification secti on for identifying the sub-device which has transmitted a request to the main device or the processing of the main device performed in response to the request from the sub-device as an inhibiting factor according to the history of the operation mode of the main device detected by the operation mode detection section.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program, etc., which lightens the load of setting alteration by a computer. SOLUTION: A management device 10 which manages a plurality of devices connected to the computer by using a hierarchical structure is equipped with a management part 130 which manages pieces of setting information corresponding to the plurality of devices respectively in a setting information database by using the hierarchical structure, an addition part 120 which adds setting information of a new device to the setting information database when an existent device is replaced with the new device, a condition decision part 140 which decides whether or not the existent device and new device have predetermined specific relativity, and an alteration part 150 which manages the setting information of a low-order device as a device managed in a layer below the existent device as a lower layer of setting information of the new device and records it in the setting information database when it is decided that the existent device and new device have the prescribed relativity. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer system, a computer device, a feeding control method in the computer device, capable of suitably controlling a power supply corresponding to a type of usage. SOLUTION: This computer system 10 is provided with a PC body 20, and a digitizer 30. A type of usage of the computer system 10 is detected, and when the type of usage is the specified type of usage, for example, a type of usage pattern mainly using the digitizer 30, a shifting power saving mode is decided according to attaching/detaching of a AC adapter, the remaining amount of a battery, the upload frequency of data from the digitizer 30 and the like. When the PC body 20 is in a power saving mode and an upload request of data from the digitizer 30 side exists, the PC body is returned to be a normal mode, and made to be the power saving mode again after the completion of uploading.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize a rechargeable battery effectively with regard to an information processing device that is driven by the rechargeable battery. SOLUTION: This information processing device which is driven by the rechargeable battery is provided with a fully-charged capacity obtaining portion that obtains the fully-charged capacity of the battery, because the fully-charged capacity which is the capacity when the battery is fully charged is reduced by repeated chargings and dischargings of the battery; a total charged capacity obtaining portion that obtains information representing a total charged capacity from the start of using the battery until the fully-charged capacity is obtained, and a regeneration processing portion that executes the battery regeneration processing of complete charging or complete discharging which should restore the full charging capacity of the battery, when the fully-charged capacity obtained by the fully-charged capacity obtaining portion is decided as being lower than the full charging capacity that the battery has, based on the total charged capacity. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect various devices of a computer from physical shocks by controlling the changeover of a system state in ACPI (advanced configuration and power interface) or the like on the basis of the existence of physical motion such as vibration and movement of the computer. SOLUTION: An embedded controller 41 judges whether a computer device body performs motion (vibration, movement, rotation, etc.) or not on the basis of acceleration information obtained by an acceleration sensor 60 built in the computer device body.
