Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance protection of an authentication password stored in a database held by a SAM of Windows (R). SOLUTION: A GINA, a part of the OS, receives an authentication password in ASCII codes. The authentication password is converted to first UNICODES, and the first UNICODES are salted with a random number and converted to second UNICODES. The random number used for salting is associated with a user account and a password and stored in a read/write protected non-volatile memory or a non-volatile memory which can be accessed only by a BIOS. An LSA of the Windows (R) can process UNICODES without being changed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer method allowing input of highly-confidential information securely and exchange of it via a network, without being captured by malicious software so as to securely reflect the information on a computer. SOLUTION: Upon transfer of encrypted information from a server to a computer, the transferred information is stored in a memory of the computer, which is shifted into a suspend state, is immediately returned therefrom, and is shifted and controlled with a BIOS. Then, the information stored in the memory is decrypted and processed, processing information generated based on the processed information is encrypted, the computer is shifted and controlled with an OS, and the encrypted processing information is transferred to the server. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately set a device controller having two operation modes corresponding to the installation state of a device driver. SOLUTION: The device controller is operated in the two operation modes of an old operation mode in which it is operated by an old device driver and a new operation mode in which it is operated by a new device driver. For an OS, there is the case that the old device driver is introduced but the new device driver is not introduced. A BIOS sets the device controller to the old operation mode and activates a computer. In the operation environment of the OS, the presence/absence of the new device driver is inspected. When the new device driver is detected, control is shifted to the BIOS and the device controller is set to a new operation mode. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information transmission method and an information transmission device, capable of responding to increase in information for CRTM to be updated, for providing a method for updating CRTM, without needing addition of special hardware for realizing the method. SOLUTION: The information update method for updating CRTM that is a base of chain authentication by use of an information processor adapting the system of ensuring the validity of the whole information processor by performing the chain authentication comprises steps of extracting update CRTM that is information of the CRTM of information to be updated; storing the update CRTM in a main memory of the information processor; authenticating the update CRTM stored in the main memory; and updating the CRTM with the authenticated CRTM. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch panel for improving the operability of a user. SOLUTION: This touch panel for recognizing and correcting an operating position operated by a user on a display picture is provided with a mark display part for displaying a plurality of marks indicating operation target positions on a display picture so that the density of the direction of a main scanning line or a sub-scanning line can be varied according to the position of the direction, an operating position reading part for reading the operating position on the touch panel of the user, a relative position acquiring part for obtaining a relative position corresponding to the display position of the mark, and a correcting part for correcting the operating position of a new operation different from the operation to the mark of the user based on the relative position. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a sense of unity of operation and an image display, and to further efficiently impart information by the image display to an operator. SOLUTION: This information processor is provided with a means (Steps S41 to S45, S48 and S49) for determining whether or not a prescribed period has passed by continuing coordinate input as substantially inputting the same coordinates after starting input of optional coordinates by a coordinate input means, a means (Step S50) for executing first processing on the basis of the optional coordinates when determination is negative, and a means (Steps S41, S42 and S47) for executing second processing different from the first processing when the determination is affirmative. The second processing (Step S47) includes processing for displaying a successively changing image in response to a successive change with every prescribed period of input coordinates on condition of continuing input of any coordinate after the prescribed period passes. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for a computer, a computer and a recording medium which make it possible to execute a process not defined by a standard when a system-specific event occurs. SOLUTION: When a computer system is in a suspend state and an ejection button of a docking station is pressed and detected, ACPI BIOS88 acknowledges it to an event service 92 and also sends a wake up request and an undock request to OS86. OS86 transfers a from the suspend state to an operating state, and executes a processing which allows removal of a PC from a docking station to permit undocking. The event service 92 sends a suspend request to S86. A kernel 82 makes conduct a transition from the operating state to the suspend state.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior information processing system which is a type having a power management function for reducing the power consumption by adequately lowering or stopping the operating frequency of a CPU. SOLUTION: The CPU has a normal mode, a power saving mode which is lower in power consumption than the normal mode, and a stop mode where the operation is completely stopped. Then the system has >=1 peripheral equipment and a bus for communicating with the CPU and further has a communication port which is physically connected to other independent equipments and transfers data and a bus cycle detecting means which monitors bus cycles on the bus. In response to the detection of a bus cycle for assessing the communication port, a state decision means determines the operation mode of the CPU. Once the sate decision means determines the power-saving mode, a control signal for placing the CPU in the power-saving mode is sent to the CPU. Further, a control signal for stopping the CPU is sent once the stop mode is determined.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To perform normal switching by prereading an instruction, which will be executed following an instruction for address generation mode switching, to hold it in a prefetch queue at the time of executing the instruction for address generation mode switching. CONSTITUTION: JMP +2 is executed to flash a prefetch queue 2A, and contents of a DRO register are temporarily transferred to an EDX register and are returned to the DRO register by execution of MOV DRO and EDX. An instruction prefetch unit 2 prereads an instruction to store it in a prefetch queue 2A in the middle or execution or these instructions MOV DRO and EDX. Since the instruction (JMP offset value, selector value)to be executed following instructions MOV CRO and EAX for mode switching is fetched in a prefetch queue 2A, the system is prevented from being hung or malfunctioning because of transfer of the control to an erroneous address just after mode switching.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer in which passwords of a magnetic disk device and a BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) for protecting security can be shared among a plurality of users, and a shared password management method. SOLUTION: An internal key is encrypted using an external key that can be input only by the users concerned, and the shared passwords are further encrypted using the internal key. The encrypted internal key and shared passwords are stored in a nonvolatile storage means to which read prohibition can be set. Consequently, if the user knows his/her external key, the user can use the computer without knowing the shared passwords and can change the shared passwords. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
