Abstract: A sizing agent composition comprising a film-forming material, a lubricant for glass fibers, a coupling agent and an antistatic agent, in which the film-forming material is an oil-in-water type emulsion of an unsaturated polyester obtained by reacting under heating (a) 1 mole of a dibasic acid component containing at least 50 mole percent of fumaric acid or maleic anhydride and (b) 1 to 1.5 moles of a diol component containing at least 30 mole percent of an adduct of 2 to 10 mols of an alkylene oxide to bisphenol A, with (c) an emulsifier selected from an adduct of 5 to 200 moles of an alkylene oxide to castor oil, an adduct of 5 to 200 moles of an alkylene oxide to hydrogenated castor oil and a polyethyleneglycol having an average molecular weight of 1000 to 6000, the amount of said emulsifier (c) being 5 to 30 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the sum of the polyester starting materials (a) and (b), and incorporating the resulting unsaturated polyester into water, and that the antistatic agent is a compound having the formulae RSO3 H.N(CH2CH2OH)3 or ROSO 3 H.N(CH2CH2OH)3 wherein R stands for alkyl having 8 to 20 carbon atoms or an univalent organic radical obtained from alkylbenzene, alkylnaphthalene, polyoxyethylene alkyl ether, polyoxyethylene alkylphenyl ether, naphthalene-formaldehyde condensate, dialkyl succinate or alkyldiphenyl oxide.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing a phosphate polymer wherein a monomer 1 represented by the general formula (1) below, a monomer 2 represented by the general formula (2) below and a monomer 3 represented by the general formula (3) below are copolymerized in a polymerization solvent having a dissolved oxygen concentration at 25°C of 0.01-4.0 mg/kg at a pH of 7 or less. Also disclosed is a method for producing a phosphate polymer wherein the monomers 1, 2 and 3 are copolymerized in the presence of a phosphonic acid chelating agent at a pH of 7 or less. Further disclosed is a method for producing a phosphate polymer using a mixed solution containing the monomers 1, 2 and 3, wherein the mixed solution is obtained by mixing the monomers 1-3 at a temperature of 10-50°C and polymerization is started within 72 hours after mixing of the monomers 1-3, while keeping the temperature of the mixed solution within the range of 10-50°C until the polymerization is started. (In the formula (1), R 1 and R 2 respectively represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; and R 3 represents a hydrogen atom or -COO(AO) n X wherein AO represents an oxyalkylene group having 2-4 carbon atoms or an oxystyrene group, n represents a number of 3-200 which is an average mole number of added AO, and X represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1-18 carbon atoms.). (In the formula (2), R 4 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R 5 represents an alkylene group having 2-12 carbon atoms; m1 represents a number of 1-30; and M represents a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal.). Abstract: A process for the production of (meth)acrylic polymers useful as cement dispersing agents of stable quality, which comprises step 1 of mixing (meth)acrylic acid with a polyalkylene glycol monoalkyl ether at a mole ratio of 3 : 1 to 50 : 1, conducting the esterification between both in the presence of an acid catalyst and a polymerization inhibitor, and deactivating the acid catalyst with an alkali agent to obtain an esterification mixture containing a (meth)acrylic ester and residual (meth)acrylic acid, and step 2 of adjusting the esterification mixture prepared in step 1 to pH 1.5-3.5 and copolymerizing the (meth)acrylic ester with the residual (meth)acrylic acid.

Abstract: A deinking composition which shows a good deinking performance, a good defoaming property and excellent operation characteristics whereby a deinked pulp having a high whiteness and little contamination with the total remaining ink can be obtained in the reclamation of waste papers by flotation, washing or a combination procedure thereof and wherein the deinking composition comprises a reaction mixture (II), as a deinking agent, obtained by the addition reaction of alkylene oxide (D) with a mixture (I) comprising a fat and oil (A) which is constituted with a mixture of higher fatty acids (a) comprising fatty acids having 8 to 24 carbon atoms; having an average carbon atom number of from 12.7 to 22.5; containing from 9.6 to 70.6% by weight of higher fatty acids having 20 to 24 carbon atoms and having an iodine value (IV) of 70 or less and glycerol (b-1), and/or, a transesterification reaction mixture (B) obtained by reacting the fat and oil (A) with glycerol (b-2), and at least one mono- to tetradecahydric alcohol (C).

Abstract: The present invention aims at developing a deinking method applicable to the deinking of, for example, waste OA (office automation) paper and telephone directories, whereby a deinked pulp having a high whiteness and little contamination with large ink spots and unliberated ink can be obtained. The object of the present invention can be achieved by deinking, for example, waste OA paper or telephone directories by using a deinking composition containing as an effective component a reaction mixture (III) obtained by conducting the addition reaction of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide with a mixture (I) comprising a fat and oil (a) and a mono- to hexahydric alcohol (b) and/or with a transesterification mixture (II) obtained by conducting the transesterification reaction of a fat and oil (a) with a mono- to hexahydric alcohol (b), in such a manner that the molar ratio of ethylene oxide to propylene oxide which are used as starting materials ranges from 0.8 to 1.2 and that the molar number of ethylene oxide which is used for the addition reaction ranges from 50 to 100 mol per mole of the fat and oil (a).
