Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the title coloring matter excellent in fastness, giving good dyeability and color developability in carrying out, in particular, recording through sublimation transfer by heating with thermal head, consisting of an anthraquinone-based red coloring matter. CONSTITUTION:The objective anthraquinone-based red coloring matter for heat-sensitive sublimation transfer of the formula (R and R are each H, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, or halogen, but when either R or R is H, the other is not H). This coloring matter is incorporated with a resin (e.g. rosin-, phenol-base one) and a solvent (e.g. an alcohol, cellosolve, ketone) to prepare a recording ink, a condenser paper or glassine paper being coated with this ink to form a transfer sheet. The use of this transfer sheet will avoid thermal decomposition during transfer recording, leading to extremely highly reliable record storage because of excellent light resistance of said sheet.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance solubility of a coloring matter in a solvent at the time of preparing an ink and enhance stability of the coloring matter to heat, light, moisture and chemicals, by synthesizing an anthraquinone red coloring matter for thermal sublimation transfer of a specified general formula. CONSTITUTION:1-Amino-2-chloro-4-hydroxyanthraquinone of formula I and a phenol of formula II (R is methyl, methoxyl or a halogen) ere heated in an aprotic polar solvent in the presence of a deoxidizer. By this, a red coloring matter tor thermal sublimation transfer of formula III (R is the same as that in formula II) can be obtained. The coloring matter is highly soluble in solvents, has an excellent property for preparation of an ink therefrom and excellent sublimability, and is free of migration thereof in a substrate or a contaminating property.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable control of the quantity of a coloring matter transferred through sublimation at the time of thermal transfer and facilitate easy gradational recording, by synthesizing a 1,4-diamino-2-phenoxyanthraquinone magenta coloring matter of a specified general formula. CONSTITUTION:1,4-Diemino-2-chloroanthraquinone is brought into reaction with a meta-substd. phenol of formula I (R is an alkyl, alkoxyl, hydroxyl or halogen) in a polar organic solvent, such as sulfolane, in the presence of a base. By the reaction, a magenta coloring matter for thermal sublimation transfer of formula II (R is is the same as that in formula I) can be obtained. A thermal transfer recording ink can be prepared by use of the coloring matter by mixing the coloring matter with an appropriate resin, solvent or the like.

The coloring substrate is e.g. a thermoplastic resin such as PS, PE, PP, acrylic resin, etc., a thermosetting resin such as amino resin, phenolic resin, etc., alumina film, silica film, etc. PREPARATION:The objective compound can be produced e.g. by mixing 4,5- dinitro-1,8-dihydroxyanthraquinone, aniline and boric acid, reacting the components at 150 deg.C for 7hr, pouring the reaction liquid into methanol, separating the precipitated crystals by filtration and purifying with a column.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a vat dye of good quality in a high yield, by chlorinating a specified condensation product obtd. by a reaction in the presence of 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone. CONSTITUTION:0.1-10pts.wt. alkaline condensing agent such as KOH and optionally a wetting agent such as an alkali metal naphthalenesulfonate are added to one pt. 1-aminoanthraquinone in the form of a powder or a slurry while introducing an oxidizing agent such as air. A condensation reaction is conducted in the presence of 0.1-10pts.wt. 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone at 80-150 deg.C to obtain a condensation reaction product. The product is slurried in water and reduced with hydrotalcite in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide. The resulting crystal is recovered by filtration and slurried in water. The resulting dianthraquinone-N,N-dihydroamine or the above product is chlorinated in sulfuric acid. The product is recovered by filtration and the filter cake is completely dissolved in 98% sulfuric acid and reduced with Al powder to obtain a vat dye of the formula, wherein n is 1, 2.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance heat-resistance, light-resistance, sublimation speed, hue, ribbon stability, and the like, by using an anthraquinone dye of Cyan shown by a specific formula as a dye for sublimation-transfer recording. CONSTITUTION:An anthraquinone dye for sublimation-transfer recording is synthesized by a method in which 1-amino-4-bromoanthraquinone-2-carboxylic acid employed as a raw material is esterified and condensed with anilines. This anthraquinone dye is shown by a formula I (R1 represents lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl, or aralkyl; and R2 represents alkylcarbonyl, alkylcarboxy, alkoxyalkyl, alkoxyalkoxy, hydroxyl, or halogen atom). This dye is mixed with suitable resins, solvents, and the like, whereby a thermal transfer recording ink is prepared.
