Abstract: Disclosed is a device to reduce conduit rainout, a valve arrangement, a humidifier, a respiratory PAP device and a method of reducing rainout in a conduit of a respiratory treatment apparatus. The disclosure notes that condensation or rainout is a common problem with humidification systems as humidified air may cool on its path along the conduit from the humidifier to the patient or can occur when the system is switched off. The device comprises a breathable gas conduit, an atmosphere access port (160) and a vapour barrier (150). The gas conduit has an input aperture (102) and an output aperture (104). The gas conduit is configured as a channel for movement of humidified gas between the input (102) and output (104) apertures. The atmosphere access port (160) is disposed between the input aperture (102) and output (104) aperture. The vapour barrier (150) is located in the channel between the input (102) and output (104) apertures of the gas conduit. The vapour barrier (150) is operable to selectively permit and prevent vapour to pass from the input aperture (102) to the output aperture (104). The atmosphere access port (160) is configured to allow communication between atmosphere and the output aperture (104) when the vapour barrier (150) selectively prevents humidified gas from passing to the output aperture (104).

Abstract: Gas delivery apparatus comprising a nasal cannula including projections (9004a, 9004b) to conduct a flow of gas into a naris of a user and a coupler extension (9020a, 9020b) to couple with one or more gas supply lines of a breathable gas source. The coupler extension includes a seat portion (9024a, 9024b) to receive and seal with a cushion of a respiratory mask. The seat portion has a sealing bevel.

Abstract: A conduit (2609) for breathable gas that delivers respiratory treatment to a patient interface or mask. The conduit comprises a venting portion (2611). The venting portion comprises a first (CA) and a second (CB) channel, a flexible channel divider (2607) and an aperture. The first channel is configured to conduct inspiratory gas (IF), and the second channel is configured to conduct expiratory gas (not shown). The flexible channel divider dynamically creates the first and second channel in response to inspiratory and expiratory conditions. The flexible channel also acts to block the venting aperture during inspiratory conditions and to open the aperture to allow expiratory gas to exit through the aperture. The flexible divider can further comprise an exchanger which allows temperature or humidity to be transferred from the expiratory gas to the inspiratory gas.

Abstract: 612275 Disclosed is a device (102) for use with a flow generator (110) that generates a supply of pressurized air to be provided at an outlet to a patient for treatment. The device (102) includes a patient interface attachable to the outlet of the flow generator (110). A sensor (104) receives a first (A1) acoustic signal generated by the flow generator (110) and second acoustic signal (A2) reflected from the patient interface. A controller (106) processes the first signal (A1) and reflected second signal (A2), and detects the connection of a patient interface based on the processed reflected second signals (A2).

Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide acoustic detection for automated devices such as respiratory treatment apparatus. In some embodiments of the technology, acoustic analysis of noise or sound pulses, such as a cepstrum analysis, based on signals of a sound sensor (104) permits detection of obstruction (0) such as within a patient interface, mask or respiratory conduit (108) or within patient respiratory system. Some embodiments further permit detection of accessories such as an identification thereof or a condition of use thereof, such as a leak. Still further embodiments of the technology permit the detection of a patient or user who is intended to use the automated device.
