Abstract: Systems, devices and methods of use adapted for treatment of respiratory disease or sleep disordered breathing include a patient interface (10) adapted to be secured to and sealed against a portion of a patient’s face, in use. A flow generator is adapted to be connected to the patient interface and to be secured by a portion of the patient’s body. The flow generator includes a blower (not shown) adapted to provide pressurised breathable gas to a patient through the patient interface. The blower is adapted to be at least partially vibrationally isolated from the patient’s body by at least one dampening system (not shown) or device. The dampening device or system is adapted to reduce the amount of transmitted vibration received by the patient. A PAP system includes a patient interface including sealing arrangement (30) adapted to form a seal with the patient’s nose and/or mouth and headgear (40) to support the sealing arrangement in position on the patient’s head. A blower is structured to generate a supply of pressurized air. The blower is supported by the patient interface on the patient’s head and in communication with the patient interface. The headgear forms one or more ducts (42) to communicate pressurized air from the blower to a breathing cavity defined by the sealing arrangement.

Abstract: A mask system for delivery of respiratory therapy to a patient includes a nares portion (20) and a mouth portion (40) and an inlet conduit (5) connected to at least one of the nares portion and the mouth portion to deliver the pressurized, breathable gas. The mouth portion includes a mouth chamber and a mouth sealing portion adapted to form a seal with the patient’s mouth. The mouth chamber includes an opening adapted to selectively receive the pressurised, breathable gas. The nares portion is adapted to form a seal with the patient’s nares. The mask system is adapted to selectively utilize the nares portion and/or the mouth portion. In a first mode the mask system utilizes both the nares portion and the mouth portion, and in a second mode utilizes the nares portion and doesn’t utilize the mouth portion.

Abstract: A swivel elbow and connector assembly (10) for a patient interface system, comprising: a ring (20) configured to be sealingly secured in an aperture of the patient interface system, the ring including a first side in an interior of the patient interface system and a second side at an exterior of the patient interface system when the ring is secured in the aperture, the ring comprising a plurality of vents (21) configured to permit flow of gases from the interior to the exterior of the patient interface system; and an elbow (40) swivelably secured in the ring. The ring comprises a first flange (22) on the first side and a second flange (23) on the second side, the first and second flanges defining a channel (24) that sealingly engages the aperture of the patient interface system. Vented gas is prevented from flowing between the ring and the elbow. The elbow and the portion of the ring between the first and second flanges form a ball and socket connection in which the portion of the ring between the first and second flanges has an elbow-facing surface with an arcuate cross-section and the elbow has a ring-facing surface with an arcuate cross-section.

Abstract: Disclosed is a headgear with length adjustable straps for a CPAP breathing or respiratory mask that seals around the underside of the nose for maintaining a patient interface on a patient’s face for the delivery of breathable gas to the patient. The headgear comprises a first headgear strap with a first connector, the first connector comprising a proximal end proximate a main body of the first headgear strap and comprising a terminal end opposite the proximal end; and a second headgear strap with a second connector, the second connector comprising a proximal end proximate a main body of the second headgear strap and comprising a terminal end opposite the proximal end. The first connector attaches to the second headgear strap at a location on the second headgear strap spaced apart from the second connector so that the first headgear strap is length adjustably connected to the second headgear strap. The second connector attaches to the first headgear strap at a location on the first headgear strap spaced apart from the first connector so that the second headgear strap is length adjustably connected to the first headgear strap. When the headgear is engaged with the patient’s head and the first and second headgear straps are connected, the terminal end of the first connector covers the second headgear strap and the terminal end of the second connector cover the first headgear strap. The total length of the first and second headgear straps is adjustable by pulling the first and second headgear straps in opposing directions. The first headgear strap is releasably connected to the second headgear strap.
