CONSTITUTION:When a television signal S1 is a NTSC signal S1N, a NTSC/ CCIR discriminating circuit 3 supplies a control signal S4 for connecting a movable contact 6C and a fixed contact 6A to a switch 6, a controller 4 for NTSC generates an operating signal S2 corresponding to a cycle of horizontal synchronous pulse of the NTSC signal S1N, and supplies it to a scanning drive circuit 7. Next, if a television signal S1 is a CCIR signal S1C, it connects the movable contact 6C and fixed contact 6B of switch 6, a CCIR controller 5 generates a gate signal GC as an operating signal S3 corresponding to a cycle of horizontal synchronous pulse of CCIR signal S1C. However, in order to make the gate signal GC match with a liquid crystal display unit 8 prepared for NTSC, the gate signal GC is generated thinning out one time for 6 times.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous mode discrimination at the time of variable speed reproducing by controlling the operation of a mode discriminating circuit, which discriminates the mode by the presence or the absence of a prescribed frequency component of a reproduced signal, in accordance with the presence or the absence of the reproduced signal. CONSTITUTION:A mode discriminating circuit 43 detects the level of a prescribed frequency component of a reproduced FM modulated luminance signal to discriminate whether the signal reproduced from a tape is a high band-mode signal or a normal-mode signal, and the occurrence part of noise is detected by a drop-out detecting circuit 44, and the mode discriminating operation is stopped and the preceding discriminated state is kept in this part. Thus, the mode is not erroneously discriminated though reproducing by which noise may occur is performed at the time of variable speed reproducing, reverse track reproducing, or the like.

SOLUTION: In the clock supply circuit, correspondence between a frequency mode and a processing mode of a CPU 20 is stored in a storage circuit 103. When the processing mode or the interrupt of the CPU 20 is detected in a frequency mode setting circuit 101, the frequency mode correspondent to the detected processing mode or interrupt is retrieved from the storage circuit 103, and a clock signal CLK of a prescribed frequency according to the retrieved frequency mode is generated in a clock generation circuit 102. Accordingly, a time from detection of a change of the processing mode and the interrupt in the frequency mode setting circuit 101 to generation of the clock signal CLK in the clock generation circuit 102 is unconnected to a processing speed of a program controlling the CPU 20 and is decided according to a response time of a hardware in the clock supply circuit.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To avoid such a case that the signals recorded newly on a track are attenuated or become incomplete by using an erasion current switching means to switch the erasion current to be supplied to a flying erasion head in response to the detecting result of a tape type detecting means. CONSTITUTION:An amplifier 8 of variable amplification degrees amplifies the output of an oscillator 7 and supplies an erasion current to a flying erasion head FEH. A tape type detecting circuit 9 decides whether a video tape is equal to MP or ME and switches the amplification degree of the amplifier 8 according to the MP or ME. That is, the amplification degree of the amplifier 8 is increased with MP and decreased with ME respectively. As a result, the amplitude of said erasion current is large with MP and small with ME. Then, the amplitude most suitable to erasion of an MP video tape is secured with MP; while the amplitude most suitable to erasion of an ME video tape is obtained with ME respectively.

CONSTITUTION:Switches SA, SB switching the supply power to amplifiers GA, GB for drive are provided at magnetic heads MA, MB and the switch is controlled for switching by using signals (servo signals) V, W obtained from a rotary phase detector of the rotary drum. That is, when any of the signals V, W is at H, the switch SA is closed, a power supply VCC is applied to the amplifier GA, and when the signal V is logical L, the switch SB is closed, a power is applied to the amplifier GB so as to attain control so that no power is applied to the amplifier of a magnetic head not coming into contact with the tape. Thus, the power consumption is reduced, the crosstalk at reproduction is reduced and noise due to suprious radiation is lowered.
