    Abstract: A tape recorder has a flying erase head (FEH) and is capable of use with a plurality of types of recording tape. The tape recorder includes a detector (23) for detecting the type of a recording tape loaded in the tape recorder and operative to provide a control signal corresponding to the detected type of recording tape, a current source (21) for supplying an erase current having a characteristic which is such as to drive the flying erase head so as to erase signals recorded on the recording tape, and a controller (22) which is connected to the current source and is operative to adjust the characteristic of the erase current to the type of recording tape loaded in the tape recorder in response to the control signal.

CONSTITUTION:A character 33A indicates a date display representing June 30, 1990 based on calendar information in a pattern 34 on an LCD 31 in which characters 33A, 33B by a character signal S5 are superimposed onto a picture 32 by a video signal S6, and since the weekday of June 30, 1990 is Saturday, the character 33A is displayed in blue. The user easily confirms the weekday to be Saturday because of display in blue. When the day is Sunday, the date is displayed in red. Thus, it is very useful to display weekdays in different colors.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily seek a specific object by providing a color signal selection means which detects a color signal of a color represented by a designated color signal and outputs the detected signal among color signals generated from an image pickup signal based on a comparison result signal to compare the designated color signal and the image pickup color signal and a display device displaying a picture by an output color signal of the color signal selection means to the system. CONSTITUTION:A designated color signal CR is compared with a chroma signal C generated by an image pickup signal by a phase comparator 5, from which a phase comparison result signal SO is outputted. The comparison result signal SO as understood from a waveform diagram is a high level signal when the phase of the chrominance signal C and the phase of the designated color signal are in phase (phase corresponding to a red color in both phases) and is a low level signal in other case. The comparison result signal SO is fed to a color LCD signal processing circuit 6 and a control input terminal of an output buffer 7. When the comparison result signal SO fed to the control input terminal is at a low level, all RGB signals are outputted, and when the comparison result signal SO is at a high level on the other hand, only the R signal is outputted.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To always obtain a picture easy to see by controlling the contrast on a liquid crystal display device and/or the intensity of emitted light of a back light by a control circuit in accordance with a time count signal indicating the cumulative power supply time. CONSTITUTION:A time counting circuit 27 which outputs a time count signal S1 corresponding to the cumulative power supply time of a view finder and a control circuit 28 which controls the contrast of a liquid crystal display device 1 and/or the intensity of emitted light of a back light 4 are provided. The control circuit 28 controls the contrast on the liquid crystal display device 1 and/or the intensity of emitted light of the back light in accordance with the time count signal S1 which is counted by the time counting circuit 27 and indicates the cumulative power supply time. Thus, the degradation in brightness of the back light 4 or contrast on the liquid crystal display device 1 is automatically compensated though they are degraded by the secular change, and the picture easy to see is always obtained.

Thus, an electronic volume constituting an LCD controller 23 is adjusted, a picture signal is outputted from this LCD controller, and a DC/AC invertor 21 is controlled. Then, the characteristic of the picture on a LCD 1 is changed by the picture signal, the contrast of a liquid crystal itself is changed, and the brightness of a back light 4 is changed by a pulse signal P1.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To always obtain a pattern easy to see by setting an intensity of an illuminance light of a back light based on a temperature signal representing the temperature around the back light from a temperature sensor at application of power and a clock signal representing continuous non-stimulate time and accumulation stimulate time of the back light from a counter circuit. CONSTITUTION:A counter circuit 36 detects a DC voltage from a DC/DC converter 27, counts the production time and stop time of the DC voltage and gives them to an input interface 35 as a count data D1. The production time of the DC voltage represents the accumulated time and the stop time represents the continuous non-stimulating time. An input interface 35 is provided with a tri-state buffer IC and an A/D converter or the like and a luminance signal S1 is fed to the input interface 35 in addition to a count data D1 and a temperature signal S2 from the temperature sensor 38 is fed to the interface 35. A microcomputer 39 acts like a back light control circuit and a relay 30 is changed over through a relay driver 40 in response to the data.

CONSTITUTION:At first a character signal C2 read from a character generator 2 by a read clock signal CK3 is synthesized with a video signal V1 from a main body section such as a camcorder to which a view finder is integrated by a synthesizer 3 and a video signal V3 synthesized with the character signal C2 is fed to an LCD driver 4. Then the video signal V3 is converted into an RGB signal at an LCD driver 4 and converted into a drive signal D2 of an LCD 6 and the drive signal D2 is read by the read clock signal CK3 from a clock signal generating circuit 11 and fed to the LCD 6.

The light intensity signal S1 corresponding to the intensity of inputted peripheral light L is outputted by the optical sensor 27, and the operation signal S2 corresponding to this light intensity signal S1 is outputted by the signal processing circuit 28, and the display device 1 is driven based on this operation signal S2. Thus, the brightness on the display device 1 is always automatically obtained as a proper brightness corresponding to the intensity of peripheral light.
